You head out on a bush walk in runners because they're comfortable. Then the track turns to loose gravel and greasy clay, the soft sole skates on every downhill, and grit and grass seed drop in over the low collar. Roll an ankle five kilometres from the car and the walk is over — and the trip back is a long, slow limp.

This is a women's lace-up hiking boot that comes up above the ankle, with a padded collar, a chunky rubber lug outsole, an EVA insole and a cotton lining. It laces through eyelets down low and two metal speed hooks at the top, so you can pull the collar in close around the ankle.

Sizing: the size numbers are Chinese label sizes, not Australian ones. Measure your foot heel to toe and read it off the chart under Specs.

Be clear on what it is: a hiking boot for walking tracks, campsites and the yard. It is not safety footwear and has no protective toe cap. The seller lists it as waterproof but gives no test or rating, so treat it as water-resistant, not for wading.

What These Boots will Not Do

• Not Safety Footwear: the seller's own title calls these "safety work shoes", but the attributes say there is no metal toe cap and none is shown or listed. They are not certified to any safety footwear standard and will not get you through a site gate that requires safety boots.
• Water-Resistant, Not Waterproof: the seller lists it as waterproof but gives no test or rating — treat it as water-resistant, not for wading. There is open mesh at the collar and tongue, and water gets in over the top of any ankle boot in a creek crossing.
• Chinese Sizes, Not Australian: the label numbers are Chinese sizes. The seller's size listing puts them on a different EU number (label 42 = EU 40.5), while the seller's chart picture calls the label number the "Euro/CN" size. Both give the same foot lengths, so go by foot length. There is no Australian column.
• Glued Sole, Not Stitched: the seller lists the sole as fixed by "sticking" — a glued (cemented) sole. Don't dry the boots against a fire or a heater.
• No Weight or Shaft Height Given: the seller has not published either. We're not going to guess.
• No Detail for Heavy Packs: no shank, midsole stiffness or load figure is given. These are for day walks and camping, not multi-day trips under a heavy pack.

What Size do I Order?
Stand with your heel against a wall and measure to the end of your longest toe in millimetres. Find that length in the chart under Specs and order the label size beside it. If you are between two sizes, go up. The seller lists the fit as true to size, but the seller's own note on the chart says they pick one size bigger for a wide foot.

I Wear an Australian Women's 8. Which Size is That?
The chart has no Australian column, and Australian women's sizes do not line up with these label numbers, so we won't guess a conversion. Measure your foot and use the foot-length column — that's the one that decides. The UK and US columns are printed as the seller gives them.

Can I Wear These on a Site That Needs Safety Boots?
No. There is no protective toe cap and no safety certification. If your job needs safety footwear, these are not it.

Are they Waterproof?
The seller says yes but gives no test or rating, so we call them water-resistant. Wet grass, rain and a quick puddle are fine. Wading a creek is not.

Will they do a Long Hike with a Full Pack?
