Utility Pack for Phone & Power Bank

A phone in your back pocket is a broken phone.

You sit down on the tailgate, climb into the cab, kneel on it in the tray. Or the phone goes into a cargo pocket with a shifter and a set of keys and comes out with a scratched screen. And on the days it survives, it goes flat by two in the afternoon because the power bank is back at camp in the bottom of a bag — which is the same as not owning one.

This is a small belt and webbing pouch that carries both, in the one place, on your hip. The phone sits in the front under a retaining strap, the power bank sits behind it, and the lead stays plugged in between the two so the phone charges while you work. The flap folds over both and locks with a side-release buckle, with hook-and-loop underneath it.

On the back it has MOLLE webbing for a pack or a vest, and a removable webbing strap with press-studs so it can go straight onto a belt without threading anything. It is a simple bit of gear that solves a stupid, expensive problem.

What It Does

• Charges while you work: the power bank and the phone travel together with the lead still connected, so the charge happens during the shift instead of at the end of it.
• Off the back pocket: in and out of the ute all day and the phone is on your hip instead of underneath you.
• Straight onto a pack: the rear webbing takes MOLLE straps, so it goes on a day pack shoulder strap or a vest and stays where you put it.
• Keeps the dust off the screen: the flap closes over the top, which is the difference between a usable screen and a scratched one after a week on a dusty block.
• One place for the small stuff: when the phone is not in it, it takes a multi-tool, a torch, a spare battery or a wallet just as happily.

Limits

• Measure your phone first: the pouch is 170 mm by 90 mm by 40 mm closed, and the supplier publishes no list of compatible handsets. A large phone in a thick case plus a chunky power bank will not both fit. Hold a tape over your gear before you order.
• Not waterproof: no water rating is published and the flap is not sealed. It sheds dust and a light shower. It will not keep a phone dry in real rain or a river crossing.
• Fabric is not stated: the supplier does not name the material or its weight. What we can see is a tightly woven textile with bound edges and stitched webbing. We are not printing a denier figure nobody has given us.
• Nothing electrical is included: the phone, the power bank and the charging lead in the photographs are there to show the layout. You get the pouch and its strap.
• Belt width is unstated: the strap suits a normal trouser or work belt, but no maximum belt width is published, so a very wide rigger belt may not suit it.
• It is not impact protection: a fabric pouch softens a knock. Drop it from height onto rock and the phone inside still takes the hit.
• Colour codes are the supplier's: the five options are listed as AG, B, CP, ACU and MC. The supplier does not publish what each code stands for, so we are not going to translate them for you and get it wrong.

Q & A

Will my phone fit?

Measure it. The inside of the pouch is bounded by 170 mm of height, 90 mm of width and 40 mm of depth, and that 40 mm has to cover the phone, the case and the power bank together. A standard handset and a slim power bank are a comfortable fit. A big handset in a rugged case is not.

Can the phone charge while it is in there?

That is what the layout is for — phone in front, power bank behind, lead connected between them and the flap closed over the top. Bring your own lead, and keep it short so it is not looping around inside.

Does it go on a belt or on a pack?

Both. There is MOLLE webbing stitched to the back for a pack or a vest, and a separate press-stud belt strap in the parcel for a plain belt.

Will it keep water out?

No. There is no water rating on it and the flap is not sealed. If you are heading into weather, put the phone in a bag inside the pouch.

What do the colour codes mean?

The supplier lists them as AG, B, CP, ACU and MC and does not say what the letters stand for. The photographs show black, olive green, a grey digital pattern and two multi-tone camouflage patterns, so pick from the images rather than the codes.

How long will it take to arrive?
