This is a flat-top cadet cap in washed cotton-weight twill — a low, square crown with a short 65 mm peak, the shape you have seen on work sites and farms for fifty years. The back is open, with a metal slide buckle on a webbing tab, and it adjusts across a stated range of 56 to 63 cm (560 to 630 mm). That covers most adult heads with room either side.

Low profile is the point of it. The crown stands 90 mm, so it sits close to the head instead of ballooning above it, and the short peak keeps the sun out of your eyes without catching every branch you walk under. Limits

The honest version, including where this listing itself is untidy.

• The peak is short: at 65 mm it shades your eyes and your nose, not your ears or the back of your neck, and the rear of the crown is left open by the adjuster. On a long day in the open, add something that covers your neck.
• It is not a warm hat: it is a single layer of twill with an open back. It will not keep your ears warm and it is not insulated. If you want warmth, buy a beanie.
• Camouflage is a pattern, not a credential: nothing here is issued, approved or supplied to any defence force, and we make no such claim.
• The colour options are labelled A, B and C: the supplier ships three colourways — camouflage, army green and black — but lists them by letter rather than by name, and gives no key. We are fixing that. Until it is fixed, check the option image before you commit.
• Fibre content: not specified by supplier. It handles like a cotton-weight twill and it is not a technical fabric, but no composition is published and we will not invent one.
• No structured crown: the flat top holds its shape by cut and stitching, not by a stiffener. Sat on hard, it will crease.

Will it fit me?
The supplier states an adjustment range of 56 to 63 cm (560 to 630 mm). Put a tape around your head just above the ears and across the middle of your forehead. If that number lands anywhere in that range, it will fit. Most adults do.

What colours are there, really?
Three: camouflage, army green and black. There is no navy and no grey, whatever this page may have said before — that was wrong and it has been corrected. The options are currently listed as A, B and C, so check the image against the option before you pick one.

Is it a beret?
No. It is a flat-top cadet cap with a peak — a low square crown, a stitched band and a short brim. An earlier version of this page called it an octagonal beret and that was simply not the product in the photographs.

How does the adjuster work?
A metal slide buckle on a webbing tab at the back of the cap. Feed the tail through and pull it up to tighten. It holds by friction, so it does not click through fixed positions the way a plastic snapback does — you can set it anywhere in the range.

Can I wash it?
Washing instructions are not specified by supplier. It is a twill cap with a metal buckle, so cold hand wash and air dry in the shade is the safe assumption. Do not put it through a dryer.
