Sleep & Heart Rate Data Without a Watch.

You want to know how you are actually sleeping on a swing roster, but a chunky watch in bed is a nuisance, and on shift it cops a knock every time you climb in and out of a cab. So it ends up in the bag, and the data you were after never gets recorded.

This ring does the logging from your finger instead. It reads heart rate, blood oxygen, skin temperature, sleep, a stress score and steps, and sends it all across to the QRing app on your phone over Bluetooth. There is no screen on it, so there is nothing to crack, and it charges on its own small dock in about an hour and a half. The supplier quotes 5 to 7 days between charges.

Before anything else: measure your finger. The electronics and the battery are built into the band, so a smart ring cannot be stretched or resized by a jeweller. Order the wrong size and it will not fit, and a wrong size is treated like a change of mind, which our returns do not cover. This listing has no sizing kit option. The size table and the four measuring steps are under Specs: five minutes with a strip of paper and a ruler saves the lot.

Two more things straight up. There is no GPS in it, so distance is estimated from your steps. And it is not a medical device: every number it shows is a reference reading for fitness, not a medical reading.

What it Does
  • Sleep Logging: records sleep overnight and shows it in the app the next morning, with no strap on your wrist.
  • Heart Rate & Blood Oxygen: reference readings from the optical sensor on the inside of the band, for watching a trend against your own baseline.
  • Skin Temperature: a temperature reading from the finger. It is skin temperature, not core body temperature.
  • Stress & Heart Rate Variability: a stress score and a heart rate variability figure worked out by the app, as listed by the supplier.
  • Steps, Distance & Calories: counted all day. Distance is estimated from your steps, because there is no GPS.
  • Sport Modes: the supplier lists walking, running, cycling and swimming among its exercise modes, each logging heart rate, steps, distance, calories and time.
  • Phone Tools: remote camera shutter, find-my-ring, gesture control, games and a cycle calendar, as listed by the supplier.
Key Features
  • Eight Sizes: 7 to 14 in the maker's own numbering, from 17.9 mm to 23 mm inside diameter. Measure first; the table is under Specs.
  • Three Colours: black, silver or gold. The supplier says the box may say rose gold, and that it is the same gold shown in the pictures.
  • Steel Shell: stainless steel outside with a smooth epoxy resin inner face over the sensors.
  • Charging Dock Included: a 47 x 16 mm dock with a USB-C port. Every option on this listing comes with it.
  • 5 ATM Water Rating: the maker's rating. Hand washing, rain and a swim at the surface are inside it; diving and hot water are not.
  • QRing App: Bluetooth 5.2 to Android 5.1 or later and iOS 8.0 or later.
  • Delivery: Free Standard Delivery, 5 to 10 working days from the day you order. Allow 1–2 days for fulfilment. Regional and remote addresses can take longer.

Limits

A Wrong Size Cannot be Fixed.

There is no adjusting a smart ring. The band holds the battery, the circuit board and the sensors, so it cannot be cut, stretched or resized. If it is too tight it will not go over the knuckle; too loose and it spins, and as a rule an optical sensor reads worse when it is not sitting against the skin. We cannot take a ring back for being the wrong size. Measure the exact finger you plan to wear it on, measure more than once, and go by the millimetres in the table under Specs, not by your size in an ordinary ring.

It is Not a Medical Device.

Heart rate, blood oxygen, skin temperature, sleep and stress figures are reference readings for fitness, not medical readings. It will not diagnose anything, and no number it shows should change a dose or a decision to go and get help. If you feel unwell, ring a doctor, not your phone app. The cycle calendar is a reminder, not contraception and not a fertility test.

It will Not Track you Without your Phone.

No GPS or GNSS receiver is fitted. There is no route map from the ring alone, no emergency SOS and no way for anyone to see where you are. The data sits on your phone once it syncs.

It Has No Screen & No Buzz.

Everything is read in the app. The supplier lists no vibration motor and no call or message alerts, so it will not tell you about a missed call.

It is Not for Diving or Hot Water.

The supplier's rating is 5 ATM, which covers splashes, rain, hand washing and swimming at the surface at most. Do not dive in it, do not wear it in a hot shower, spa or sauna, and keep it away from a pressure washer or a jet ski's spray. The supplier's own artwork says you can shower in it; we would rather you took it off first. Give it a rinse in fresh water after a swim in the sea.

Take it Off Around Machinery & Live Electrics.

A metal ring on a finger is a known hazard around rotating plant, winches, grab handles and live electrical work, and plenty of sites will not let you wear one. Take it off for the shift and put it back on for the night, which is when it earns its keep anyway.

Q & A

How do I Pick my Size?

Wrap a strip of paper or non-stretch string snugly around the finger you will wear it on, mark where it meets, lay it flat and measure the length in millimetres. That is your circumference: pick the size in the table under Specs that matches it. Do it a few times, and at different times of day, because fingers swell in the heat. If you already have a ring that fits that finger well, measure straight across the inside of it and match the inside diameter column instead.

What if I Fall Between Two Sizes?

The supplier gives no in-between advice. Measure again at the end of a warm day, and remember the ring has to pass over the knuckle. If your readings still straddle two sizes, the inside diameter of a ring you already wear comfortably on that finger is the best tie-breaker.

Are These Australian Ring Sizes?

No. Australian ring sizes run in letters. The numbers 7 to 14 are the maker's own, so ignore the label and go by the millimetres.

Why does the Box Say Rose Gold?

The supplier says the box for the gold option is marked rose gold and that it is the same colour as the gold in the pictures. You get the gold shown.

My Ring doesn't Show Skin Temperature. What Now?

The supplier says to update the ring's firmware through the QRing app. The temperature function then appears.

How Long does the Battery Last?

The supplier quotes 5 to 7 days in use and 15 days on standby, with a full charge on the dock in about 1.5 hours. The battery is 14 mAh on the smaller sizes and 18 mAh on the larger; the supplier's two documents disagree on which side size 10 falls.

Can I Swim in it?

A swim at the surface sits inside the maker's 5 ATM rating. Diving, a hot shower, a spa or a sauna do not. Rinse it in fresh water after salt water.

Which Phones does it Work with?

Android 5.1 or later and iOS 8.0 or later, over Bluetooth 5.2, using the QRing app.

Ring Size Table: the supplier's chart, read from its sizing picture. Inside circumference is the length of paper or string that fits snugly around your finger.

Ring Size Inside Diameter Inside Circumference
7 17.9 mm 55 mm
8 18.3 mm 57.5 mm
9 19.2 mm 60 mm
10 20 mm 62.8 mm
11 20.9 mm 65.4 mm
12 21.6 mm 67.8 mm
13 22.4 mm 70.4 mm
14 23 mm 73 mm

Sizes 7 and 14 do not quite square up on the supplier's chart: 17.9 mm across works out to about 56.2 mm around, and 23 mm across to about 72.3 mm. They are printed above exactly as the supplier gives them. If you sit near either end, measure carefully.

How to Measure: 1. Wrap a long strip of paper or non-stretch string around the finger. 2. Pull it snug, not loose and not tight. 3. Mark where it meets. 4. Lay it flat, measure the length in millimetres and match it to the Inside Circumference column. Measure several times for an accurate figure.
