A real mesh vent across the back, not a slogan.
Come summer, the shirt you are in stops being a shirt and starts being a heat trap. The sweat collects across your shoulders and the middle of your back — exactly where a pack strap or a ute seat holds the fabric flat against your skin — and it sits there for the rest of the afternoon.
A shirt that holds sweat against your back all day chafes under a pack strap, and a chafed back is how a good day on the tools turns into an early finish.
This one is built around an actual vent rather than a claim on a label. Lift the yoke flap across the upper back and there is an open mesh panel underneath it — the outer fabric shades the opening, the mesh lets air move through. The same mesh lines the collar and the upper back. You can see it lifted in one of the product photographs.
What we cannot tell you is what it is woven from. The supplier publishes no fibre content, and the care label in the photographs is too small to read at any magnification. The supplier does state quick drying and wrinkle resistant, and those two are on this page as supplier statements. Everything else here is what we could see in the pictures or count in the variant list.
What It Does
- Moves air across your back: the yoke flap sits over an open mesh panel, so the heat that collects between your shoulder blades has somewhere to go instead of soaking in.
- Holds two things on your chest: both pockets have buttoned flaps, so a notebook or a phone stays put when you lean over the tray of the ute.
- Tucked in or hanging out: the hem is cut longer and curved at the back, so it stays in over a belt and still sits right left loose over a pair of shorts.
- Four colours that do not shout: khaki, brown, olive drab and black. Site-friendly or bush-friendly, and none of them announce you from the far side of a paddock.
- Rinses out overnight: the supplier states quick drying, so washing it in the donga sink and having it ready in the morning is a realistic plan.
Key Features
- Vented back yoke: an outer flap of shell fabric sitting over an open mesh panel across the upper back.
- Mesh-lined collar: the same open mesh runs inside the collar stand and across the upper back.
- Two chest pockets: both closed with a buttoned flap, not open-topped.
- Full button front: a button placket running the length of the shirt.
- Curved dropped hem: cut longer at the back than the front.
- Plain short sleeves: hemmed straight, with no roll-up tab or cuff strap.
- Four colourways: khaki, brown, olive drab and black, all solid with no pattern or print.
- Four sizes: M, L, XL and XXL.
- Supplier-stated finish: quick drying and wrinkle resistant. No other fabric performance figure is published.
Limits
- No fibre content published: we do not know what this is woven from. If you need to know what is against your skin — a fabric rule on your site, a skin reaction, an area with a fire risk — this is not a shirt to guess at.
- No size chart supplied: the supplier publishes no garment measurements at all, so we cannot tell you which sizing standard it is cut to. The Size Guide on this page is the store's general chart, not one measured off this shirt.
- Not flame resistant: no flame-resistance marking appears anywhere on the garment or in the supplier's information, and no certificate was sighted. It does not belong on a hot-work permit or in an arc-flash area.
- Not a hi-vis garment: there is no retroreflective tape and no part of this shirt is tested or marked to AS/NZS 4602.1. It will not meet a site rule that calls for hi-vis.
- No UPF rating: it covers your shoulders and upper arms, which is genuinely worth something in the sun, but no UPF number is printed on it or published, so we are not putting one on this page.
- Not waterproof, and not meant to be: the back vent is an opening by design. Rain goes through it. This is a hot-weather shirt, not a shell.
- No moisture-wicking figure: quick drying is the supplier's word for it. There is no measured wicking rate or dry-time behind it and we are not inventing one.
Q & A
What is it actually made of?
Not published, and we are not going to guess. The supplier states quick drying and wrinkle resistant but gives no fibre content, and the care label in the product photographs is too low-resolution to read even enlarged twenty times. A made-up percentage would look better on the page and be worth nothing to you.
Will an M fit like an Australian M?
We cannot confirm that either way. No size chart came with this shirt and no measurements are published, so the sizing standard is genuinely unknown to us. The safest approach is to measure a shirt that already fits you and compare it against the Size Guide tab as a starting point, and to size up if you are between sizes. Returns cover faulty or not-as-described, not a change of mind on fit, so the guesswork is worth doing before you order.
Does the back vent actually open, or is it just a seam?
It opens. It is a flap of the shell fabric sitting over a genuine open mesh panel, and one of the product photographs shows it lifted with a finger so you can see straight through the mesh. Air moves through it; the flap keeps direct sun and the worst of a light shower off the opening.
Can I wear it for hot work or in an arc-flash area?
No. Nothing on this shirt is marked or tested to any flame-resistance standard and we have sighted no certificate. Wear the flame-resistant shirt your site issues for that work.
Is it any good in the rain?
Not really, and that is the trade-off you are making. The vent is a hole for air by design, so water finds it. It is built for heat, not weather.
How long will it take to arrive?
Ten to fourteen days from the day you place the order, and allow up to three weeks. Delivery is free to Australia and New Zealand.
