Your phone is zipped into a jacket pocket, your hands are wet or covered in grease, and you need to know whether there is time for one more job before the light goes. So you guess. Guess wrong and you are walking back to the ute in the dark, or the bloke waiting at the gate has given up on you.

This is a plain, hard-working sports watch that answers that with a glance. Analogue hands for the quick read, plus three digital windows for the date, the day of the week and the time with seconds. Press LIGHT and the digital windows light up. It carries an alarm with snooze, a stopwatch, a countdown and three local times, and it runs on a fitted battery, so there is no charging lead to forget at camp.

Two things straight up. It is not a smartwatch. There is no Bluetooth, no app, no GPS and no heart-rate sensor, and the maker lists none. And while the dial is marked 5 bar, the seller's own advice is not to wear it swimming, and never to press a button under water. Treat it as a rain, sweat and hand-washing watch and it will do the job.

Limits

It is Not a Swimming Watch.

The dial and the listing both say 5 bar. The seller's own note then says they suggest you do not wear it swimming, and that if you do, you must not press any button under water. The maker's water chart, in the seller's own pictures, puts its 50 m rating at washing your hands, rain, washing the car and a cold shower, with swimming crossed out, and warns against hot water and steam. So: rain, sweat, the hose and the wash basin are fine. Swimming, the surf, diving, hot showers and the sauna are not. Never use the buttons while it is wet.

It is Not a Smartwatch.

No Bluetooth, no phone app, no call or message alerts, no GPS, no heart rate, no step counter. None of that is listed by the maker and none of it is in the watch. If you want any of those, look at our smart watches instead.

Shock Resistance is a Tick Box, Not a Rating.

The listing's attribute box ticks "shock resistant", but no test or standard is named anywhere, so we are not claiming it. The face is acrylic, which marks more easily than glass. Treat it like any ordinary sports watch on a work site.

Battery Life is Not Specified.

The battery comes fitted. The listing does not say which cell it takes or how long it should last, and we will not guess a figure.

It is a Big Watch.

At 51 mm across and 16 mm thick it sits tall on the wrist. It can catch on a tight shirt cuff or under a glove gauntlet. If you have a slim wrist, check the 160 to 220 mm strap range before you order.

The Strap Material is Printed Two Ways.

The maker's panels say TPU and the listing's attribute box says silicone. Both are soft rubbery straps, and we have printed both as the seller gave them.

Can I Swim in it?

No. The dial says 5 bar, but the seller advises against swimming in it and says never to press a button under water. The maker's own chart stops at a cold shower. Take it off before you get in.

Does it Need Charging?

No. It runs on a fitted battery and there is no charging lead in the box. The listing does not state the battery type or how long it lasts.

Does it Connect to my Phone?

No. There is no Bluetooth and no app. It is a standalone watch, set on the watch itself.

Will it Fit my Wrist?

The strap is 265 mm overall and suits a wrist from 160 to 220 mm around. Wrap a piece of string around your wrist, measure it against a ruler, and check it lands in that range.
