A torch that tells you how much light you have left.

Your torch dies at night. You can't see. Not seeing leads to trips and hazards — and on a site, that leads to investigations, lost time and incidents. Most torches give you no warning at all: they're bright right up until they're dead.

This one has a battery readout on the body — an actual percentage, not a vague coloured dot — so you know before you walk out whether it will last the night. No good having a torch that goes flat and you've got to carry batteries around. Plug it in and charge it up: the charge port is USB-C, under a rubber sealing flap, off the same charger as your phone.

The head zooms by sliding it in and out — pulled in it floods a campsite or an engine bay, pulled out it throws a tight spot well down a track. Four versions are on the one page: two compact models and two longer models that add a side panel light for close-up work and roadside signalling.

Limits

The beam figure is a claim, not a working range. The supplier prints "Real 1200-1500m" on the artwork. Treat that number as a peak — fully zoomed, fresh charge, dark-adapted eyes, and even then it is the distance at which a trace of light lands, not the distance you can see detail at. Expect to genuinely light up objects at a few hundred metres, which is still a serious throw for a torch this size.

No lumen figure is substantiated. The supplier states no lumen output at all. Sellers of the same chassis quote around 1,200 real lumens, and that is about what the physics allows from a single-cell zoom torch of this class. Any torch this size claiming many thousands of lumens is quoting fiction — we would rather tell you the honest bracket.

It is not waterproof. The supplier's own artwork says it prevents "small rain or splashing water" — so rain and splash resistance only. No IP rating is substantiated. Do not swim with it, do not dunk it, and do not use it as a dive light.

Read the battery label with one eyebrow up. The supplier's cell is labelled 10,000 mAh as "2 x 5,000 mAh". A genuine single 26650 cell tops out around 5,000–5,500 mAh, so budget on the honest figure: roughly 18–37 Wh of stored energy. One seller of the same torch states 3–4 hours per charge, mode unstated — expect much less on the highest setting.

The power bank is for emergencies. It will top a phone up enough to make a call, not recharge it day after day. A real power bank does that job better.

Battery safety, plainly: if you replace the removable cell, use a quality protected 26650, never a damaged or swollen cell, and charge from a decent USB supply. CE and PSE marks are printed on the battery label, but no certificate has been sighted.

Q & A

Will it really throw light 1,500 metres?

That is the supplier's peak claim and we publish it as exactly that. In real use, zoomed right in on a clear night, you can pick out reflective objects a long way off and usefully light things at a few hundred metres. That is honestly strong for a single-cell torch — it just is not a searchlight.

Can I use it in the rain? Can I swim with it?

Rain and splashes, yes — keep the charging flap seated. Swimming or submerging it, no. The supplier's own material describes splash protection only, and no IP rating is substantiated, so treat water as something it survives, not something it works in.

Which version should I pick?

Green Short is the straightforward 5-mode torch. Red Short is the upgraded 6-mode version — it adds a very low mode for around camp and remembers the mode you last used. Green-Long and Black-Long (K-008) are bigger, and add a side panel light with white and red modes — handy as a camp lantern, for work under a bonnet, or as a roadside marker. If you want the smallest kit, go Short; if you want the side light, go Long.

Is the battery included?

The supplier's pack lists show a battery built in or included with the Green-Long, Black-Long and Red Short versions, charged in the torch over USB-C. A pack list for the Green Short is not published by the supplier.

Can it charge my phone?

Yes — there is a USB-A output beside the charging port. With roughly 18–37 Wh in the tank it is an emergency top-up, enough to get a call or a message out, not a substitute for a proper power bank.

How long does a charge last?

One seller of the same torch states 3–4 hours per charge without naming the mode. On low, with the display to watch, you can plan a night around it; on the highest setting expect well under that. The percentage readout is the whole point — you are never guessing.
