Glare Off the Water Hides the Fish

Bright morning on the boat ramp and the water is a sheet of white. You cannot see the weed bed, the drop-off or the fish sitting under the snag, and by lunchtime you are squinting so hard your head aches. Driving home into a low sun off a wet road is the same problem again.

Polarised lenses cut that reflected glare, so you look into the water instead of at the shine on top of it. These are KastKing's Skidaway, bought from KastKing's own official store: a wrap-style frame in Grilamid (a light, flexible nylon), with polarised TAC lenses in three frame-and-lens combinations.

The frame is 132 mm across the front on KastKing's own drawing, with 58.6 × 38.3 mm lenses, a 15.4 mm bridge and 137 mm arms. That is a medium-to-large face size. If you already own a pair of sunglasses that fits, measure across the front and compare.

What it Does
  • Cuts Glare Off Water & Roads: the polarising layer in the lens filters reflected light, the shine that hides what is under the surface.
  • Stays Light on a Long Day: the Grilamid frame is KastKing's choice for low weight and flex.
  • Wraps Around the Side: a wrap-style front and broad arms cut down light coming in from the side.
  • Three Lens Choices: a smoke lens on a matte black frame, a green mirror on gloss black, or a smoke flash mirror on a gloss grey frame.
Key Features
  • Genuine KastKing: the Skidaway model, supplied by the kastking Official Store on AliExpress.
  • Frame: Grilamid, with moulded nose pads, pin hinges and a metal KastKing logo pin on each arm.
  • Lenses: polarised TAC (triacetate), layered with hard coats on both faces, UV-blocking layers and a PVA polarising film, as shown in KastKing's lens diagram.
  • UV400: KastKing marks the lens UV400 and states it blocks 100% of UVA and UVB. That is the maker's statement; we have not seen a test report.
  • Size: 132 mm across the front, lenses 58.6 × 38.3 mm, bridge 15.4 mm, arms 137 mm (KastKing's drawing).
  • Colours: Matte Black frame with Smoke lens; Gloss Black frame with Green Mirror lens (brown base); Gloss Grey frame with Smoke Flash Mirror lens.
  • In the Pack: the sunglasses, a rigid zip-up protective case and a KastKing microfibre cleaning pouch, as shown on KastKing's "Pack Includes" picture.
  • Delivery: Free Standard Delivery, 5 to 10 working days from the day you order. Allow 1–2 days for fulfilment.

Limits

Not safety glasses. They are not rated to AS/NZS 1337 or any impact standard. For grinding, cutting, shooting or anything that throws debris, wear rated safety eyewear.

No Australian test certificate. KastKing states UV400, but we have no test against AS/NZS 1067.1, the Australian sunglasses standard, and no lens category is stated by the maker. We will not guess one.

Polarised lenses and screens. Polarised lenses can make some phone, chartplotter and dashboard screens look dark or patchy at certain angles. Tilt the screen, or take the glasses off to read it.

Not for night driving. Any tinted lens cuts the light you need at night. Wear clear glasses, or none, after dark.

One frame size. There is no small or large fitting. Check the 132 mm front width against a pair you already wear.

Q & A

Are These the Real KastKing?

Yes. They are bought from the kastking Official Store, KastKing's own store on AliExpress, not from a reseller.

Which Lens Should I Pick?

KastKing's guide: smoke for bright, open sun with true colours; a brown base, like the one under the green mirror, for more contrast in partly cloudy to sunny light, which suits reading water. The mirror coatings reflect some light away before it reaches the lens.

Will they Fit a Big Head?

The front is 132 mm wide with 137 mm arms, which suits most adult faces at the medium-to-large end. Measure the front of a pair that fits you; if yours is well over 140 mm, these may sit tight.

Can I Wear them Over Prescription Glasses?

No. They are a full wrap frame, not a fit-over design.

Do they Float?

Not specified by the maker. Assume they do not, and use a retainer strap on the boat.
