The layer you pull on before the sun's up.

Five in the morning, 4°C in the yard, and you're standing at the ute picking between two wrong answers. The t-shirt is not enough now. The work jacket is too much by smoko. So you carry one and wear the other, and by nine o'clock you're either sweating or you've left something behind.

This is the layer that sits between them. A pullover hoodie with a half zip, so when you've been shovelling for twenty minutes and you're cooking, you drop the zip and dump the heat without stripping anything off. Two big flapped cargo pockets across the chest for the phone, the gloves and the smokes, a kangaroo pouch underneath for cold hands, and a drawstring hood for when the wind gets up.

Read the sizing before you order — this is the part that catches people. It is imported sizing and it does not line up with what you expect off an Australian rack. The supplier's own measurement chart — chest, length and sleeve in centimetres — is published in the Specs tab. Measure a hoodie you already own and like, lay it flat, compare it to those numbers, and order to the measurement rather than to your usual letter size.

What It Does
  • Vents without stripping off: drop the half zip when you heat up and pull it back when you stop — no taking a layer off and finding somewhere to put it.
  • Carries the small stuff: two flapped cargo pockets across the chest sit where you can reach them sitting down, in a harness or in a seatbelt.
  • Warms cold hands: the kangaroo pouch across the hem is the one that actually gets used standing around waiting for a pre-start.
  • Covers your neck and ears: a tall collar and a drawstring hood, so you're not hunting for a beanie when the wind swings round.
  • Layers over a work shirt: cut loose — the chart puts a medium at 116 cm (1160 mm) across the chest — so it goes over what you're already wearing.
  • Does duty off the job: the same layer works for a cold morning in camp, an early boat ramp or the walk to the shed.
Key Features
  • Half-zip front: metal zip pull running to about mid-chest — it is a pullover, not a full-length zip.
  • Two flapped cargo pockets: large patch pockets on the chest, each with a flap over the opening.
  • Kangaroo hand pouch: a single pouch across the hem with an opening at each side.
  • Drawstring hood: corded hood on a tall stand collar.
  • Ribbed knit cuffs: the wrists are a rib knit, so they sit in rather than flapping about.
  • Curved drop hem: longer at the back and no ribbed waistband — it sits over the belt instead of gripping at it.
  • Raglan shoulder seams: the sleeve seam runs to the collar rather than sitting on the shoulder point.
  • Eight colours: Black, Blue, Light Blue, Gray, Green, Khaki, Pink and Burgundy Red — spelt at the checkout exactly as they are here.
  • Six sizes: S, M, L, XL, XXL and XXXL, every colour in every size.
  • A real measurement chart: chest, length and sleeve in centimetres, published as text in the Specs tab — not a picture you have to squint at.
Limits

This is a hoodie. Here is what it will not do, so you can decide before it turns up.

  • It is not a rain layer: it wets out in steady rain and then it stays wet and cold for a long time. If it is raining, this goes under a shell, not instead of one.
  • It is not windproof: there is no membrane and no wind lining. On an exposed ridge or a windy stand-down, wind goes straight through it.
  • The fabric is not stated: the supplier does not publish the fibre blend or the fabric weight in GSM, and does not say whether it is fleece-backed or a single jersey. That means we cannot tell you how warm it is, or how it will behave after a few washes — shrinkage, pilling and colour hold are all unverified. Wash it cold and line dry it until you know.
  • There is no small in the chart: the supplier's measurements cover M through to 3XL only. S is sold but unmeasured, so if you are ordering a small you are ordering blind.
  • Sizing runs to Asian patterns: the supplier's own chart says so. Ordering your usual Australian letter size is the single most common way people end up sending apparel back. Measure and compare.
  • It is bulky under a work jacket: a hooded pullover with cargo pockets and a hood is a lot of fabric. Under a close-cut work jacket it will bunch at the chest and the hood will sit under the collar.
  • It is not site PPE: no hi-vis, no reflective tape and no flame-resistant treatment claimed. Do not wear it for hot work, and do not count it towards a site clothing standard.
  • The half zip only goes so far: it opens to about mid-chest, so it still has to come off over your head. If you want something you can shrug straight off, buy a full-zip.

Q & A

What size should I actually order?
Go by the chart in the Specs tab, not by your usual letter. Lay a hoodie you already own flat, measure it across the chest and double that figure, then measure the length from the back of the collar to the hem and the sleeve from the collar seam to the cuff. Match those three numbers against the chart and order the closest. The supplier allows 1–3 cm (10–30 mm) of variance on its own measurements.

Do you have measurements for the small?
No. The supplier's chart starts at M. S is on sale but there are no published figures for it, and we will not make some up.

What is it made of, and how warm is it?
Not specified by supplier — no fibre blend and no fabric weight. We are not going to guess a GSM or put a temperature rating on something we cannot verify. Treat it as a mid-weight pullover layer and judge the rest when it arrives.

Is the hood lined?
Not specified by supplier. The product images show a hood in the same fabric as the body, but no separate lining is stated, so we are not claiming one.

Will it keep the rain off?
No. There is no water-resistant treatment claimed and none should be assumed. It soaks and it stays heavy. Under a rain shell it is fine; on its own in the wet it is not.

Can I wear it on site?
For a cold start or smoko, yes, where site rules allow plain clothing. It is not hi-vis, it carries no reflective tape and no flame-resistant claim, so it does not meet a hi-vis or FR standard and it has no place around hot work.

How do the pockets work?
Two large flapped cargo pockets sit on the chest, one either side of the zip, and there is a kangaroo pouch across the hem with an opening at each side. The flaps have no visible stud or hook-and-loop fastening in the product images, so treat the chest pockets as open pockets — fine for gloves and a beanie, not somewhere to bounce a phone around in.

How long does delivery take?
Ten to fourteen days from the day you order, and we ask you to allow up to three weeks. Regional and remote addresses can run longer again. Delivery is free to Australia and New Zealand.

Supplier Measurement Chart

These are the supplier's own figures, in centimetres. They are garment measurements taken by hand, and the supplier states they may vary by 1–3 cm (10–30 mm). The supplier does not state whether "chest" is measured flat or as a full circumference, so treat it as a garment figure to compare against a hoodie you already own — not as your own body measurement.
