Room for the week, measured in millimetres.

You are packing for four days off the grid. Tent, sleeping bag, mat, cooker, fuel, food, wet weather gear and a change of clothes. The day pack is full before the food goes in, so the rest gets lashed to the outside.

That is where it goes wrong. Gear strapped to the outside snags on scrub, works loose over a long day and comes off somewhere behind you. Lose a sleeping bag on the walk into the high country and you are not inconvenienced — you are turning around.

This is an expedition-size pack meant to swallow the lot internally. The 90 L stands 750 mm tall, 350 mm wide and 250 mm deep, with a drawstring main compartment, a separate zipped bottom section, a lidded top pocket and pockets down both sides.

On the litre figure, plainly: 80 L and 90 L are the supplier's own numbers, and they are printed on the pack itself. There is no measurement standard behind a backpack litre rating — every maker measures differently and none of them have to show their working. The millimetres above are the number you can hold a tape against. Buy on those.

What It Does
  • Carries the multi-day kit: tent, sleeping bag, mat and food go inside the pack instead of swinging off the back of it.
  • Splits wet from dry: the separate bottom compartment takes the wet tent or the muddy boots and keeps them off your sleeping bag.
  • Loads from the top: a drawstring collar under the lid opens wide, so you are not pulling the whole pack apart to reach the middle.
  • Keeps small gear reachable: lid pocket, front zip pocket and two side pockets for the things you want without stopping and unpacking.
  • Takes the overflow outside: a bungee lash panel, side compression straps and D-rings for a mat, poles or a jacket you have just peeled off.
  • Adjusts to the wearer: padded shoulder straps, a sternum strap and a waist belt with a side-release buckle, sized for men or women.
Key Features
  • Two sizes: 80 L and 90 L — the supplier's own figures, printed on the front of the pack.
  • Stated 90 L dimensions: 750 mm high, 350 mm wide, 250 mm deep.
  • Main compartment: drawstring collar closing under a buckled top lid.
  • Second compartment: zipped bottom section with its own access, separate from the main bag.
  • Side pockets: a zipped bottle pocket on one side and an open mesh pocket on the other.
  • Front storage: a zipped front pocket sitting over a bungee lash panel.
  • Compression straps: adjustable webbing down both sides to pull a part-filled load in tight.
  • Padded back panel: foam with raised mesh contact pads to keep some air between the pack and your shirt.
  • Attachment points: D-rings and webbing loops on the shoulder straps and body for clipping small gear.
  • Colour range: 90 L in black, army green, navy blue, sky blue, red and orange; 80 L in black, navy blue and red.

Limits

What this pack will not do, and what we have not been able to confirm.

  • Litres are not a measurement: no backpack litre rating is independently defined or tested. Two packs both called 90 L can differ by ten litres between makers. The 80 L and 90 L figures here are the supplier's description, not a measured volume — go by the millimetres instead.
  • No dimensions for the 80 L: the supplier publishes a size panel for the 90 L only. We have not been given the 80 L measurements and we are not going to estimate them for you.
  • It is not waterproof: the fabric sheds a shower and one supplier image is captioned "waterproof", but the zips are not sealed, the seams are not taped and no water resistance rating is published. Treat it as water resistant only. For sustained rain, line it with a dry bag.
  • The rain cover is unconfirmed: several colourways are photographed alongside a black rain cover, while the supplier's own size panel states the cover needs to be purchased separately. We cannot settle which variants ship with one, so this listing does not promise a cover. Assume the pack only.
  • No frame is specified: nothing in the supplier's material describes an internal frame, stays or a frame sheet. A soft-backed pack this tall needs packing with the heavy gear high and against your spine, or it will sag and pull on your shoulders.
  • No load limit, no pack weight: neither figure is published by the supplier, so neither appears in the spec table. If you need to know what an empty pack weighs before a long walk, that number does not exist here.
  • It is not climbing gear: the D-rings, webbing loops and haul handles are for attaching kit, not for taking a person's weight. Nothing on this pack is rated for load bearing, belaying or fall arrest, and no safety standard is printed on it.

Q & A

Which should I get, the 80 L or the 90 L?

They are two different packs, not one bag in two sizes. The 90 L is the taller one with the wraparound bottom compartment and the volume printed across the base pocket. The 80 L is a squarer pack with a mesh-panelled front and its own bottom section. Only the 90 L has published dimensions, so if you want the measurements before you commit, the 90 L is the one we can give them for.

Will it go in the overhead locker as carry-on?

No. At 750 mm tall the 90 L is well over the cabin bag size any airline allows. It is checked luggage, or it goes in the vehicle.

Does it come with the rain cover?

Not confirmed, and we are not going to say yes to be safe. Several colourways are photographed with a cover beside them, and the supplier's own size panel says the cover is bought separately. Until that is settled the listing promises the pack and nothing else.

Is there a hydration bladder sleeve?

Not specified by supplier. No hydration sleeve and no hose port is shown or described anywhere in the supplier's material, so we are not listing one.

What is the fabric?

Not specified by supplier. No fabric name and no denier figure appears anywhere on the supplier's artwork. The close-up images show a coated woven synthetic with a ripstop grid, and that is as far as the evidence goes. We are not going to put a fabric name on it that we cannot back up.

How long does delivery take?

Allow 10 to 14 days from the day you order, and up to three weeks to be safe. Regional and remote addresses take longer again. Delivery is free to Australia and New Zealand.
