Flat Battery, Soft Tyre, Long Way from Town.

It is never in the driveway. It is the boat ramp at first light with the trailer still hitched, the station track after the headlights were left on at smoko, or the camp where the fridge pulled the cranking battery down overnight. No second vehicle, no leads, and often no signal to ring anyone. A flat battery out there means a wait, then a long walk or a tow bill, and the day you planned is gone.

This is a 1 kg lithium pack that starts the engine on its own, pumps a soft tyre back up to the pressure you set and stops there, and throws a light while you work. The maker rates it for petrol engines up to 9.0 litres and diesels up to 6.5 litres. It lives in the cab in its pouch and does nothing until the morning it saves you a tow.

What it Does

Three jobs in one box. Plug the clamp lead into the pack, clamp the battery, wait for the light on the lead to say the connection is right, then start the engine. Clip the air hose onto a tyre valve, pick a preset or dial in your own pressure on the screen, and the compressor runs until it gets there and switches itself off. And the LED on the end has steady, SOS and strobe modes for the engine bay at night or for being seen on the side of the road. A USB-A port tops up a phone, and the pack itself charges by USB-C.

Key Features
  • Starts Without a Second Vehicle: no leads across the track and no waiting on a mate who is an hour away.
  • Rated for Big Engines: the maker's figures are 9.0 litres petrol and 6.5 litres diesel, on a 12 V system.
  • Set-and-Stop Compressor: up to 1034 kPa (10.3 bar / 150 psi) at 35 L/min, and it shuts off when it reaches the pressure you set, so you are not guessing with a stick gauge.
  • Presets for Car, SUV, Bike & Ball: plus a manual mode from 48 to 1034 kPa (7 to 150 psi) for anything else with a valve.
  • Reads psi, kPa or Bar: it shows tyre pressure in any of the three, so you can match your tyre placard.
  • Boost Button on the Clamp Lead: the supplier says it can start a vehicle from a dead battery. That is their claim; we have not tested it.
  • Work Light with SOS & Strobe: steady beam for the engine bay, strobe or SOS if you are stopped somewhere you would rather be seen.
  • Tops Up a Phone: USB-A out at 5 V/2.4 A, USB-C in at 5 V/2 A.

Limits

The supplier quotes two different peak currents for this unit, so buy it on the engine rating, not the amps. The unit and its box are printed 3000 A. The seller's own specification list gives "1200 A, 3000A" in the same line, and a starting current of 400 A. A peak figure is the instant the clamps first bite, not what the pack holds while the engine turns over. The figure the maker prints beside it is the one to go by: 9.0 L petrol / 6.5 L diesel. If your engine is bigger than that, this is the wrong tool.

  • 12 V Only: this will not start a 24 V truck, bus or machine.
  • A Jump Starter is Not a Battery Charger: it gets the engine going; it does not recharge or repair the battery. The Boost button for a dead battery is the supplier's claim. If a battery is swollen, cracked or leaking, do not jump it at all.
  • Clamps on the Right Terminals: red to positive, black to negative or the earth point your vehicle maker names. Follow the jump-start instructions in your owner's handbook. The supplier lists reverse-polarity protection; do not rely on it to cover a mistake.
  • Do Not Leave it in a Hot Cab: this is a lithium pack, and the supplier gives its operating range as -20°C to 60°C. A closed car in an Australian summer, or a dash in direct sun, gets past that. Keep it out of the sun, in the cabin, and take it inside in a heatwave.
  • Store it Charged & Check it: the supplier says it holds charge on standby for 24 months. We have not tested that. Top it up every few months so it is ready when you need it.
  • Starts per Charge Unverified: the supplier states it. It depends entirely on your engine, the temperature and how flat the battery is.
  • Small Compressor, Small Jobs: 35 L/min is fine for topping up a car tyre or a slow leak. Airing four big 4WD tyres back up after the beach will take a long time; a dedicated 4WD compressor is the right tool for that, and this is the backup.
  • No Water Rating: none is specified by the supplier. Keep it dry.
  • No Certification Marks Shown on the Unit: the supplier lists several, but none appears on the unit in their photos and no certificate was provided to us, so we do not claim any.
  • Two Figures for the Light: the supplier's picture says 400 lumens; their specification list says 100 lumens. We cannot tell you which is right.

Q & A

Will it Start my Car?
Go by the litres on your engine: up to 9.0 litres petrol or 6.5 litres diesel, which is the maker's rating, on a 12 V system. Above that, or on 24 V, look at a bigger unit.

Will it Start a Diesel 4WD?
If the engine is 6.5 litres or under and the vehicle runs 12 V, it is inside the maker's rating. Cold mornings and a battery that has been flat for days are the hard starts for any jump pack, so keep this one charged.

Can I Air my 4WD Tyres Back Up After the Beach?
It will do it, and the SUV preset goes to 345 kPa (50 psi), but at 35 L/min four big tyres take a while. If you air down regularly, a dedicated 4WD compressor is the right tool and this is the spare.

How do I Charge it?
By USB-C, 5 V/2 A. The supplier quotes 3 to 4 hours for a full charge. A charging cable is in the box; a wall plug is not shown in the box photo, so use a USB phone charger.

What Comes in the Box?
Going by the supplier's photo: the A3 pack, the clamp lead, the air hose, five adaptors (two brass valve adaptors, a ball needle and two tapered nozzles), a charging cable, a carry pouch and the user manual.

Can I Keep it in the Ute?
In the cabin, out of direct sun, yes. Not on the dash and not in a closed ute all summer. Lithium does not like heat; bring it inside when it is severe.
