Fourteen colourways. Eleven camo, three solid.
The sun is in your eyes from mid-morning. You squint through the glare, you get a headache by smoko, and you stop reading the ground in front of you properly. A cap is the cheapest fix there is, and the one you own is either a freebie with somebody else’s logo across the front or it has gone stiff with sweat and salt.
This is a plain ripstop patch cap. Six-panel structured crown, pre-curved topstitched brim, stitched ventilation eyelets, and a square hook-and-loop field on the front-left panel so you can run your own patch instead of advertising for someone else. Fourteen colourways: eleven camouflage prints and three solid — tan, black and olive.
Be clear on what it is not. It is not military issue and carries no service or unit affiliation — a camouflage print is a pattern, nothing more. The supplier publishes no fibre content, no head circumference and no UPF rating, and we are not going to invent any of them. What we can tell you is what is visible in the photographs, and that is what the table below is limited to.
What It Does
- Shades your eyes: a pre-curved brim keeps direct sun and glare off your face on a long day outside.
- Takes your own patch: a square loop field on the front-left panel accepts any standard hook-backed patch, so the cap says what you want it to.
- Breathes a little: stitched eyelets in the crown let some heat out, two visible per side in the supplier photographs.
- Keeps sweat off your face: the brim and crown catch it before it runs into your eyes.
- Blends or stays plain: eleven camouflage prints if you want to disappear into scrub, three solid colours if you would rather not wear a pattern at all.
Key Features
- Ripstop weave: the reinforcing grid is clearly visible in the supplier photographs at high magnification.
- Six-panel structured crown: holds its shape rather than collapsing flat.
- Pre-curved brim: topstitched in multiple rows around the edge.
- Front patch panel: square hook-and-loop loop field sewn to the front-left panel.
- Stitched ventilation eyelets: sewn eyelets rather than metal grommets, two visible on each side.
- Solid back: no mesh panel on any of the fourteen colourways — it is fabric all the way round.
- Eleven camouflage prints: green and desert digital pixel, woodland blotch, arid blotch, three-colour desert, snake-scale in green, black and tan, and a multi-terrain blotch.
- Three solid colours: tan, black and olive green — patterns A, B and K.
- One size: sold as a single size with no size option and no published measurement.
Limits
It is not military issue. A camouflage print is a pattern on cloth. This cap carries no service, unit or agency affiliation, and nothing on it is issued, approved or specified by any defence force.
It is not a rated sun hat. A brim shades your face and that is a real benefit, but no UPF number is printed on this cap and it is not tested or marked to AS/NZS 4399. It also has no brim at the sides or back, so your ears and the back of your neck get nothing. If you are out all day in an Australian summer, a broad-brim hat beats any cap and this one is no exception.
We cannot tell you what it is made of. The weave is plainly ripstop in the photographs, but the fibre content is not stated anywhere and the label in the supplier images is blank at every zoom level we could get out of it. Ripstop is made in cotton, in polyester and in blends, and they wear and dry very differently. We are not going to guess which one this is.
There is no head measurement. No size chart, no circumference, no size option. Other makers’ tactical caps quote anywhere from 55 to 61 cm and they do not agree with each other, so none of those numbers belongs on this page. If you sit at either end of the hat-size range, that is a real risk and you should weigh it.
The back of the cap is never shown. All nineteen supplier photographs are taken from the front-left. We cannot see how it closes — strap, buckle or otherwise — so we are not describing a closure we have not laid eyes on.
We are not going to call it waterproof. It is a woven fabric cap. Steady rain will soak through it and it will take a while to dry.
Q & A
Are all fourteen of them camouflage?
No, and the old listing was wrong about this. Eleven are camouflage prints. Three are plain solid colours — A is tan, B is black and K is olive green. If you specifically want camo, avoid those three.
Will it fit me?
It is one size and the supplier publishes no head circumference and no size chart, so we cannot give you a number. Most caps of this style suit average adult heads. If you take a notably large or small hat size, that is the honest risk here.
Can I put my own patch on it?
Yes. The square on the front-left panel is loop material, so any standard hook-backed patch will stick to it. Nothing is included — the cap ships with a bare panel.
Is there a mesh back on any of them?
No. All fourteen are solid fabric right around the crown. If you want a trucker-style mesh back for hot work, this is not that cap.
What is the fabric?
A ripstop weave — you can see the reinforcing grid clearly in the photographs. What that grid is spun from is not stated by the supplier and there is no readable label in any image, so we have left fibre content blank rather than guess.
Are these the real branded camo patterns?
We are not claiming so. Several of the prints resemble well-known commercial camouflage patterns, but nothing on the cap or its label identifies a licensed pattern, so we have described them by appearance instead of by brand name.
