Bluetooth Calling Smartwatch 1.43in AMOLED NFC

Your phone is in the pack. The call is on your wrist.

Your phone lives in the bottom of your pack, in the door of the ute, or in a jacket pocket under a hi-vis vest. It rings and you don't hear it. You hear it and you can't get to it in time. Either way, you missed it.

Miss a call on site and it runs a long way from there. A missed call is a missed instruction, and a missed instruction is a machine moving when somebody thought it wasn't. Communication is everything, and a phone you can't reach isn't communication.

This is a 1.43-inch AMOLED smartwatch with its own speaker and microphone. Pair it to your phone over Bluetooth 5.1 and the call lands on your wrist — you see who it is, you answer it, and you talk without digging anything out of anywhere. The screen runs 466 × 466 at 326ppi, which is why it stays readable when you walk out of the crib room into full sun.

It is a watch, not a phone. There is no SIM and no mobile data of its own. It borrows your phone's connection, and the phone has to be in Bluetooth range for calls, messages and notifications to work at all.

What It Does

• Takes the call: built-in speaker and microphone, an on-screen dial pad and synced call records, so the phone can stay where it is.
• Shows the notifications: messages and call alerts pushed from the paired phone through to the wrist.
• Counts the work: steps, distance, calories and exercise time, with sport modes for walking, running, cycling, mountaineering, basketball, table tennis, yoga and skipping.
• Opens the door: a built-in NFC card the supplier states can be enrolled into NFC access control, so you tap your wrist instead of hunting for a fob.
• Runs for days: the supplier states 12 days of normal use, 4 days with the screen always on and 35 days on standby from the 400mAh cell.
• Changes its face: a range of built-in dials, plus custom faces loaded from your own photographs.

• IP68 sealed body: the caseback is engraved IP68 and the speaker is a sealed 0815 unit. Read the Limits tab for what that does and does not allow.
• HX3605 optical sensor: the wrist sensor sitting behind the fitness readings.

Limits

Water: read this before it gets wet

The supplier states no ATM rating for this watch, and we are not going to invent one. The caseback is engraved "SMART WATCH WATERPROOF LEVEL : IP68 MADE IN CHINA" and the printed spec panel says the same thing. That IP68 marking is the only water figure the manufacturer publishes.

This page used to be titled "30mtr Depth". Nothing on the watch and nothing in the supplier's artwork supports 30 metres, so we have taken it out of the title. An IP rating on its own declares no depth — the standard leaves the depth and the duration for the manufacturer to state, and this manufacturer has not stated either.

The supplier's artwork goes further again and says the watch "supports swimming wearing", beside a photograph of a bloke swimming underwater in one. We are not repeating that as a promise. Water resistance is a pressure rating, and pressure comes from movement as much as depth. A swimming stroke, a jump off a jetty or a jet from a hose can all beat a static immersion test.

So here is the honest version. Rain, sweat, a splash, washing your hands: fine. Do not swim in it. Do not snorkel or dive in it. Do not press the buttons or the screen while it is under water, and keep it out of hot water, showers and steam — heat and soap attack a seal far harder than cold water does. If you want a watch you can swim laps in, buy one that publishes 5ATM. If you want one you can dive with, buy one that publishes 10ATM or better. This watch publishes neither, and a number the maker will not print is a number nobody should trust.

The health readings are not health readings

There is an optical sensor on the caseback that shines light into your wrist and turns what bounces back into numbers for heart rate, blood oxygen and sleep. Those numbers are fitness estimates, not measurements. They are not medically accurate. They move with how tight the band is, how cold you are, how hairy your wrist is and how still you are holding your arm.

Do not use this watch to make any health decision. It will not diagnose anything. It will not monitor or manage a heart condition, a lung condition, sleep apnoea, diabetes or anything else, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. If a number on it worries you, that is a reason to see a doctor, not a reason to believe the watch. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or condition.

The supplier's own artwork uses the words "accurate monitoring" about these readings. We do not agree with that wording and we are not standing behind it.

Other things it will not do

• It is not a locator tag: the old title called this a "Smart Tracker". It tracks steps and exercise. It will not find your keys, your dog or your ute, and it is nothing like a Bluetooth item tracker.
• No SIM and no data: it cannot place a call on its own. Out of Bluetooth range of your phone it is a watch and a step counter, and that is all.
• GPS is not stated: the supplier publishes no GPS specification at all, so treat the distance figure as an estimate off your movement and your phone, never as a surveyed track.
• NFC is not universal: the watch carries an NFC card that some access-control systems will enrol and plenty will not. Whether it opens your gate depends entirely on that system, not on the watch.
• Battery figures are theirs: 4, 12 and 35 days are the supplier's numbers, not ours. Bluetooth calling and an always-on screen will pull all three of them down.
• No certificate sighted: we have not been shown a test certificate behind the IP68 marking or the battery. The marking is on the product; the paperwork has not been put in front of us.
• Not a tool watch: zinc alloy case, glass face, and no stated impact or scratch rating anywhere. It is a smart watch that looks rugged rather than one rated to be.
• Not every colour shown: the supplier's photographs include green and brown bands. Four options are actually sold and they are listed in the spec table.

Q & A

Can I wear it in the shower?

No. Hot water and steam are harder on a seal than cold water is, and soap breaks the gaskets down over time. Take it off.

Which band comes with which option?

Four are sold: silver, black, black steel and black mesh. Black steel is a solid stainless steel link bracelet, black mesh is a stainless steel mesh bracelet, and silver and black are the lighter builds. The supplier's photographs for the steel and mesh options also show a spare silicone strap sitting beside the watch, but the supplier does not state the box contents, so we are not promising one.

Will it work with my phone?

The supplier states iOS 12 or above and Android 8 or above, over Bluetooth 5.1. Anything older than that is not supported.

What app does it pair with?

Not specified by supplier. No app name is printed on the product or anywhere in the supplier's artwork. The watch shows you which one to install when you first pair it.

Can I check my blood oxygen with it before a dive?

No, and please don't. The reading is a wrist estimate from an optical sensor and it is not a medical instrument, and the watch has no dive rating either. There is no yes in either half of that question.

How long does delivery take?
