Blackview W80 Pro Square GPS Smartwatch | Compass & Torch

Stop Fumbling for the Torch After Dark.

The sun drops behind the range while you are still packing up. The torch is somewhere in the bottom of the bag, the phone is buzzing in a pocket you can't get to, and the track back to the ute is a guess. Stumble on it in the dark and a rolled ankle turns a short walk into a long night.

The Blackview W80 Pro puts a torch in the side of the case, a compass on the screen and, the supplier states, built-in GPS (not tested by us), and your calls and messages on your wrist. The screen is square, 1.91 in (49 mm) across the diagonal and big enough to read without squinting, and the 900 mAh battery is rated by the supplier at more than 15 days of normal use, so it isn't another thing to charge every night in camp.

Two things straight up. It is not a swimming watch. The supplier prints a splash rating, not a swim rating, so rain and sweat are fine and the creek is not. And the heart rate, blood oxygen and stress numbers are reference readings for fitness, not medical readings. Both are spelt out under Limits.

What it Does

• Torch in the Case: an LED in the side of the case with a constant mode and a burst (flashing) mode. The supplier says it lasts up to 5 hours.
• Built-in GPS: the listing states GPS and the supplier's pictures show a recorded track on the watch screen. Which satellite systems it uses is not specified by the supplier.
• Compass: an electronic compass on the watch. The supplier says to do a figure-of-eight calibration before you rely on it.
• Calls Through your Phone: dial, answer and talk over Bluetooth through the paired phone, with a dial pad on the watch.
• Alerts on your Wrist: call and message reminders pushed across from the paired phone.
• Activity Tracking: steps, calories, sleep and what the supplier calls 100+ sport modes.
• Wellness Readings: heart rate, blood oxygen and a stress index, as reference readings for fitness, not medical readings.
• Everyday Tools: calendar, calculator, a built-in voice assistant and a choice of watch faces.

Key Features

• Square 1.91 in (49 mm) Screen: TFT touch screen at 280 x 320 pixels under coated glass. It is a square face, not a round one.
• 900 mAh Battery: the supplier states more than 15 days of normal use and more than 60 days on standby.
• Case: plastic with a tanned finish, brushed stainless steel and zinc alloy parts, 55.65 x 46.80 x 13.70 mm.
• Strap: silicone with a pin buckle, detachable, fits wrists from 154 to 250 mm and measures 267 mm end to end.
• Bluetooth 5.3: pairs with Android and iOS phones. No SIM slot and no Wi-Fi.
• Working Temperature: the supplier prints −20 °C to 60 °C.
• Three Colours: Black, Khaki or Green strap, each with the steel-grey case and orange buttons.
• Delivery: Free Standard Delivery, 5 to 10 working days from the day you order. Allow 1–2 days for fulfilment. Regional and remote addresses can take longer.

Limits

It is Not a Swimming Watch.

The supplier can't agree with itself on this one. The listing calls it "life waterproof", the maker's own spec panel and artwork print 1 ATM, and one store banner prints IP68. A 1 ATM figure means splash only, and IP68 is not a swimming rating either. Rain, sweat and washing your hands is what it is for. Do not swim, shower or dive in it, and do not press the buttons wet.

It is Not a Rescue Beacon.

There is no SIM, no satellite messaging and no emergency call to a rescue service. Calls go through your phone, so the phone has to be in Bluetooth range and in coverage. The GPS records where you have been on your own wrist; nobody else can see it. If you work or walk alone out of coverage, carry a registered personal locator beacon as well.

The Health Numbers are for Fitness Only.

Heart rate, blood oxygen, sleep and stress are reference readings to watch against your own baseline. They are not medical readings, the watch is not a medical device, and nothing it shows should change a dose or a decision to go and get help.

The Battery Figure Changes from Picture to Picture.

The listing text and most of the artwork say 900 mAh, the maker's spec panel says 950 mAh and one banner says 800 mAh. We print 900 mAh because that is what the title, the text and the battery artwork carry. The running times above are the supplier's, with no figure given for the torch or GPS left running.

We don't List the AI Features.

The supplier's artwork shows AI watch faces, a chat assistant and a voice translator. Those lean on a phone app and an online service we can't test or stand behind, so we have left them off this page.

The Woven Strap in the Colour Pictures.

Each colour picture has a small second watch on a woven loop strap. The supplier does not say a second strap comes in the box, so expect the silicone strap shown on the main watch.

Rugged is the Maker's Word.

The artwork says dustproof and drop-resistant, but no dust rating, drop height or test standard is printed. Treat it as a tougher-than-average everyday watch, not tested kit.

Q & A

Does it Have its Own GPS?

The listing states GPS, there is a small GPS label on the side of the case in the supplier's photos, and the artwork shows a track drawn on the watch screen. The supplier does not say which satellite systems it uses, how quickly it locks on, or whether it leans on the phone for a first fix. Try it on a walk you know before you rely on it somewhere you don't.

Can I Swim or Shower with it?

No. The ratings printed are 1 ATM and IP68, and the listing says "life waterproof". None of those is a swimming rating. Take it off first.

Can I Take Calls on it?

Yes, through your paired phone over Bluetooth. The phone has to be within range and have signal. There is no SIM slot, so it can't call on its own.

How Long does the Battery Last?

The supplier states more than 15 days of normal use and more than 60 days on standby. Running the torch or the GPS draws it down faster, and the supplier gives no figure for that.

How Bright is the Torch?

Not specified by the supplier. It has a constant mode and a burst mode, and the supplier says it lasts up to 5 hours. Handy for finding the tent zip or the ute keys, not a replacement for a proper head torch on a night walk.

Is the Screen Round or Square?

Square. It is a 1.91 in (49 mm) TFT screen at 280 x 320 pixels, in a case 46.80 mm wide and 55.65 mm tall.

Will it Fit my Wrist?

The supplier's drawing gives 154 mm to 250 mm around the wrist, with the strap 267 mm end to end. The strap is detachable; its width is not specified by the supplier.

Which Phones does it Work with?

Android and iOS over Bluetooth 5.3. The supplier does not name the phone app on the listing; it comes with the watch's instructions.
