Track My Order

Sized in millimetres, not in marketing litres.

Buying a pack off a litre number is a lottery. You order the one that says it will swallow a week of gear, it turns up, and it is half the bag you had in your head. Now you are repacking on the driveway the night before the swing, working out what gets left behind.

So here are the numbers the supplier actually prints on the artwork: 500 x 310 x 160 mm externally. Multiply those out and you get about 24.8 litres of box — and a backpack is not a box, so the real usable volume sits under that. The label says 40 litres. We cannot make that arithmetic work, and we are not going to pretend we can.

What it is, once you drop the number, is a well-built day pack. MOLLE webbing on three faces, a mesh-backed harness, twin-pull zips and eight camouflage and plain colourways. Right for a shift bag, a day on the hill or a bag that lives in the ute. Wrong for a three-day trek, and there is a whole tab below explaining why.

What It Does
  • Carries a day of gear: crib, a jumper, a hard hat, a laptop bag's worth of paperwork — a shift or a day walk, not a week.
  • Takes bolt-on pouches: MOLLE webbing across the front and both sides, so a first aid pouch, a radio pouch or a torch holder goes on where you want it.
  • Rides on a mesh back: the back panel and shoulder straps are faced in open mesh over foam, which is the difference between a damp shirt and a soaked one.
  • Carries three ways: both shoulders, one shoulder, or by the reinforced top handle when you are just moving it from the ute to the crib room.
  • Holds a bottle each side: open side pockets with a compression strap over them, sized in the supplier's own photos for a canteen or a drink bottle.
Key Features
  • External size: 500 mm tall, 310 mm wide, 160 mm deep. Measure the gap in your drawer system or locker against those, not against a litre figure.
  • MOLLE on three faces: rows of webbing across the front panel and down both sides for pouches, holders and straps.
  • Hook-and-loop patch panel: a loop field above the front webbing for a name tape, a blood group patch or a unit flash.
  • Front Y-strap and buckle: compresses a light load so it stops moving around, and gives you somewhere to jam a jacket.
  • One reflective tab: a short reflective strip on the Y-strap. It is a be-seen-in-a-torch-beam detail, not hi-vis and not a rated garment.
  • Twin-pull zips: two sliders on the main compartment so you can open it from either end or lock the pulls together.
  • Padded harness: contoured shoulder straps with load-lifter tabs, an adjustable sternum strap and a webbing waist strap.
  • Oxford outer, polyester lining: the supplier states an Oxford weave outer over a polyester lining. No denier is printed anywhere on the artwork.
  • Eight colourways: Black, Khaki, Army Green, CP, ACU, Desert Digital, Jungle Camo and Jungle Digital.
  • Two hydration options: the choices ending "with 2L bag" ship with an unbranded 2 litre bladder. The other seven are the pack on its own.

Limits

It is not a 40 litre pack. The supplier's own external dimensions of 500 x 310 x 160 mm come to roughly 24.8 litres as a solid box, and the pack is rounded, seamed and full of straps, so the usable figure is lower again. Buy it as a day pack of about 25 litres. If you need genuine 40 litre volume, this is the wrong bag and no amount of packing technique fixes it.

It is not waterproof. The supplier calls the fabric water repellent and prints "waterproof fabric" across one of the marketing images. There is no IP number behind that and no hydrostatic head figure, so it is an adjective, not a rating. No rain cover is included. Showers and spray, fine. A day of steady rain, put anything that matters in a dry bag.

There is no frame and no hip belt. This is softback construction — no internal frame, no stays, no aluminium. The strap around your waist is plain webbing with a side-release buckle. It stops the pack swinging; it does not lift weight off your shoulders onto your hips. Heavy loads over long distances will be felt in the shoulders.

It carries no certification. Nothing here is tested or marked to any standard — no load rating, no drop rating, no flame rating, and nothing that would qualify it as PPE on a site that specifies it. If your site requires certified gear, ask what standard they want and check for the marking before you rely on this.

It is not a laptop bag. The supplier states no laptop compartment and gives no sleeve dimension. Their artwork shows an A4 magazine and a tablet going in. Nothing inside is padded for a machine.

The flag patch is not included. One supplier photograph shows a US flag patch being stuck to the hook-and-loop panel. That picture is demonstrating the panel. No patch comes in the box, and nothing about this pack is military issue or military approved.

Q & A

So is it 40 litres or 25?

Closer to 25. Three separate sellers of this same pack, including the artwork on our own listing, all quote the identical external size of 500 x 310 x 160 mm, and all of them still call it 40 litres. The millimetres agree everywhere; the litres are a marketing number that got copied along the chain. Buy on the millimetres.

Does the water bladder come with it?

Only on the two options named "with 2L bag" — Khaki and Black. The other seven are the pack on its own. The bladder is 2 litres and unbranded; the supplier's own image says so in plain text rather than pretending otherwise.

Is there a hydration sleeve and hose port?

The supplier does not state one and none is visible in their photographs. There is a flat sleeve pocket against the back panel that a bladder will sit in, but there is no documented hose routing or exit port. Treat the bladder as something you fill and stow, not a drink-on-the-move setup.

Will it do as a FIFO carry-on?

It is 500 x 310 x 160 mm and it is soft-sided, so it squashes. Check those three numbers against your airline's published cabin bag maximum and you will know before you leave the house rather than at the gate.

What is the fabric, exactly?

Oxford weave outer, polyester lining. That is all the supplier states. There is no denier figure printed on the artwork or given in the specification, and the numbers floating around other listings for this pack disagree with each other, so we have left it blank rather than pick the flattering one.

How heavy is it empty?

Not stated. The supplier gives no empty weight and we are not going to estimate one, because that is the figure people use to work out their cabin bag allowance.
