Your kit on your chest, not in the bottom of a pack.
You stop to dig the radio out of your pack. Then the torch. Then the tape. Every stop is a stop, and the pack comes off every time.
The failure is not the pack tearing. It is that the thing you want is inside it, behind a zip, under everything else, at the moment you want it. Gear you cannot reach is gear you do not have.
This is a plain load-bearing MOLLE vest. It goes over a shirt or a jacket, it carries pouches on your chest, waist and back, and then it gets out of the way. That is the whole job. It is shaped like a plate carrier and it is not one — it is not armour, it carries no protective rating, and nothing below pretends otherwise.
What It Does
- Carries your kit forward: radio, torch, multi-tool, first-aid pouch and a knife sheath ride on your chest and waist instead of in a pack you have to take off.
- Takes standard pouches: the webbing is real PALS — rows stitched down at regular intervals into vertical channels, so any pouch with MOLLE straps weaves through and locks in.
- Holds its shape loaded: the supplier states a thick PVC foam board is built into the front and the back. It is a stiffener, so the panels hang square instead of folding under a heavy pouch.
- Fits over what you wear: padded shoulder yokes and a three-strap elastic cummerbund both adjust on hook-and-loop, so it goes over a t-shirt in summer or a jacket in winter.
- Vents down the sides: open mesh on the inner side panels rather than a solid layer sitting flat against you.
- Takes your markings: hook-and-loop panels on the upper chest and upper back for patches, name tape or a high-vis marker.
Key Features
- Real PALS webbing: full-width rows across the lower front panel, the rear panel and the cummerbund.
- Hook-and-loop patch panels: one on the upper chest, one on the upper back.
- Padded shoulder yokes: cut away at the top so a slung strap sits in the gap, and adjustable for length on hook-and-loop.
- Three-strap cummerbund: elastic, hook-and-loop closure, with a side-release buckle at the waist.
- PVC foam boards fitted: front and back, in the supplier’s own words built into the vest. The compartment they sit in measures 305 mm × 240 mm.
- Elastic retention loops: bungee cord and cord locks across the front flap to hold longer items flat against the panel.
- Open mesh inner panels: down both sides and under the shoulder yokes.
- Five colourways: Black, Sand, Army Green, CP and ACU.
- One size, adjusted not sized: the supplier calls it average size and publishes no chest or torso measurement.
Limits
It stops nothing. This vest offers no ballistic protection and no stab protection of any kind. No part of it is tested or marked to NIJ 0101.06, NIJ 0101.07, NIJ 0115.00 or any other protective standard, and no rating is printed anywhere on it. The boards inside it are PVC foam — a stiffener that gives the panels their shape. Foam does not stop anything.
No affiliation, no issue, no approval. It is not military, police or emergency-service issue and it is not approved by anyone. Camouflage is a pattern, not a credential. Body armour is a regulated item in several Australian states; this vest is not body armour, and the only thing we supply for those pockets is the foam board already in them.
No pouches are included. Every photograph on this page shows the bare vest. What arrives is the vest and the two foam boards fitted in it — no pouches, no bladder, nothing else. Budget for pouches separately or it will turn up looking emptier than you expected.
One size, and it runs short. There is no chest range and no torso length stated, only average size. Reviewers on this listing say the same two things: it is short in the body, and it sits wide across the shoulders. If you are long through the trunk, expect it to finish high on your stomach.
No water rating. The supplier states none, and nothing here is sealed or taped — the seams are stitched straight through and the webbing and mesh hold water. Treat it as a woven shell that will wet through in steady rain, and keep anything that must stay dry in a dry bag inside a pouch.
The fabric spec is unconfirmed. This listing has carried a 600D figure in its copy and an 800D figure in its material field. The supplier’s own artwork states neither, and states no fibre content either, so we publish no denier at all. If that number matters to your decision, treat it as unstated.
Finishing is functional, not tidy. The supplier’s own close-up photographs show untrimmed thread ends around the elastic keepers. It does not change how it works, but this is not a hand-finished piece of kit.
Not climbing or fall-arrest equipment. One of the supplier’s marketing panels shows a climber on a rope. Nothing on this vest is load-rated, nothing on it is an anchor point, and it must never be used to hold or arrest a person.
Jungle camouflage is not one of them. The supplier’s colour chart image shows six patterns. Only five can be ordered here — Black, Sand, Army Green, CP and ACU. The sixth in that chart is not available.
Q & A
Will this stop a bullet or a knife?
No. Not a bullet, not a blade, not a projectile of any kind. It is a load carrier. The boards in the front and back are PVC foam and they are there to keep the panels flat. There is no rating on this vest and there is no standard behind it.
Is the MOLLE real PALS webbing, or just decorative loops?
Real PALS. The supplier’s close-ups show the webbing rows stitched down at regular intervals into vertical channels, which is exactly what a MOLLE pouch strap has to weave through. Decorative loops are stitched only at the ends and will not hold a loaded pouch.
Does it come with any pouches or a hydration bladder?
No. You get the vest and the two foam boards fitted in it. Pouches and bladders are separate. There is no internal bladder sleeve either — the rear panel is covered in PALS, so a MOLLE hydration carrier straps to the outside of it instead.
Will it fit me?
The girth range is wide. Both shoulder yokes and the three-strap cummerbund adjust on hook-and-loop, so it will close over a t-shirt and still go over a jacket. Length is where it catches people out: no torso length is published and reviewers call it short in the body.
Can I wear it in the rain?
It will get wet. No water rating is stated for the fabric and the seams are not sealed. The webbing and the mesh soak up water and stay damp for a while afterwards, so hang it up rather than packing it away wet.
What is the pocket in the front and back actually for?
It holds the PVC foam board that comes fitted, and the supplier gives that compartment as 305 mm × 240 mm. The foam board is the only thing we supply for it. This vest is not sold as protective equipment.
