18-in-1 Multitool Pliers Knife with 9 Bit Driver Set

Small jobs always happen away from the toolbox.

A hose clamp backs off. A trailer light screw rattles loose. A fence wire needs a twist and a snip. None of it ever happens in the shed — it happens forty minutes down a gravel road with the toolbox exactly where you left it.

The failure here is not the gear breaking. It is the gear not being there. So the job gets left, or it gets bodged with a shifter and a pocket knife, and the fastener nobody properly tightened is the one that lets go on the highway later.

This folds to 110 × 32 × 23 mm and lives in a pocket or the belt pouch that comes with it. Open it up and you get pliers with a cutting notch, a half-serrated folding blade, a bottle opener, a can opener and a flat driver. A chrome bit holder slides over that driver and takes any of the nine bits supplied.

It is a get-you-going tool, not a replacement for a proper set of pliers. Pick it for the jobs you did not plan for.

What It Does

• Grips and twists: flat blunt jaws with a serrated face toward the tip and a coarser curved section behind it, for wire, small bolt heads and clamp tabs.
• Cuts light wire: a cutting notch sits at the base of the jaws, shown cutting insulated wire in the supplier's own photographs.
• Slices and saws: a drop point blade with roughly half its edge serrated, so it takes on rope and webbing as well as clean cutting.
• Drives fasteners: a flat driver on the tool, plus a chrome bit holder and nine bits — three hex, three slotted and three cross head.
• Opens things: a bottle opener and a separate hooked can opener fold out of the handle.
• Rides on your belt: a nylon pouch with a press stud is included, so the tool travels with you instead of living in a drawer.

Limits

Eighteen is only eighteen if you count the bits. We counted what is actually in the box. There are about eight functions on the tool itself — pliers, the cutting notch, the blade, a bottle opener, a can opener, a flat driver, a second slim flat driver and the bit mount. Then there is a chrome bit holder and nine driver bits. Eight plus ten is where eighteen comes from. It is a fair count, but it is not eighteen separate implements folding out of the handle, and one or two entries double up — the flat driver is also the bit mount, and the single half-serrated blade is sometimes listed twice as a knife and a serrated knife. Judge it as an eight-function tool with a ten-piece bit kit.

These are not needle-nose pliers. They have been described that way elsewhere and it is wrong. The jaws are flat and blunt across the nose, with a serrated gripping face and a curved section behind it. Good for grabbing, twisting and holding a nut. No use at all for reaching into a tight recess or picking a hook out of a fish's jaw.

Carrying a locking folder is your call to check. The blade opens on a thumb stud and the supplier describes it as a side-locking blade. We could not confirm the lock type from the photographs, so treat it as a locking folder. Rules on carrying a locking blade in public differ from state to state and territory to territory across Australia and New Zealand, and they are the buyer's responsibility to know. This is a work and camp tool, not a carry knife.

It will not replace a full-size plier. A 110 mm folding body gives you short handles and modest leverage. It will nip light wire and turn a small fastener. It will not cut fencing wire, crimp a lug properly, or shift a seized bolt, and levering on it hard is how the pivots on tools this size get sloppy.

No steel grade is marked on the tool. The supplier states 3Cr13 for the blade and 2Cr13 for the body and tools. Nothing is etched or stamped on the tool itself and no mill certificate was sighted, so we publish those as stated figures, not verified ones. Both are budget corrosion-resistant stainless grades — they will hold up around salt and damp better than plain carbon steel, and they will not hold an edge like a premium knife steel. Expect to touch the blade up often.

No sizes on the bits and no certification on anything. The nine bits are supplied unmarked and the supplier does not publish their sizes, so you cannot check them against a fastener before you buy. Nothing in this kit is tested or marked to any tool or cut-protection standard, and none is claimed. The black coating is a finish, not armour — it will wear at the jaw faces and the blade edge with use.

Q & A

Is it really eighteen tools?

Only if the nine bits and the bit holder count as tools, which is how the number is built. On the tool itself you have roughly eight functions. That is still a lot in something that folds to 110 mm, but go in expecting an eight-function multitool plus a bit kit and you will not be disappointed.

Will the pliers do real work or are they a novelty?

Real work, within reason. The jaws are proper steel with a serrated grip face and the supplier's own photographs show them holding a bolt head and nipping wire. The limit is leverage — short handles on a folding body. Light wire, small fasteners, hose clamps and pulling a stubborn split pin are fair game. Fencing wire and seized bolts are not.

Does the blade lock open?

The supplier describes a side lock and the pattern of tool normally has one, but we could not confirm the lock type from the photographs and no certificate or drawing was sighted. Assume it locks, and check it yourself when it lands before you put any force through the spine. Carry rules for locking blades differ by state and territory and that is on the buyer to sort out.

What sizes are the driver bits?

Not specified by the supplier and not marked on the bits. What we can confirm from two separate photographs is the mix: three hex, three slotted and three cross head, nine in total, plus a chrome holder that slides onto the tool's flat driver. If you need a known size for a specific fastener, a marked bit set is the safer buy.

Can it live in a tackle box or on a boat?

It will cope with damp and the odd bit of spray better than a carbon steel tool, because the stated grades are corrosion-resistant stainless. It is not sealed and it is not rustproof. Rinse it in fresh water after a salt day, dry it, and put a drop of oil on the pivots, and it will keep working.
