Twelve hours on concrete and the boot lining is flat.

The insole that comes in a work boot or a pair of runners is the cheapest part of the shoe. It goes in flat, it packs down inside a few weeks, and after that you are standing on the sole with a bit of thin fabric in between. Twelve hours on a hardstand, a day walking a fence line, a long stalk through scrub — it all lands in the same place.

This is a full-length replacement insole. The supplier's own artwork marks the build at 18 mm through the mid-foot: a moulded block with a knit mesh top face, an arch raised into the block itself, a dished heel section, and a pebble-lobed underside with vent holes moulded through the thickest pads. The stated construction is latex, breathable mesh and polyurethane. You pull the original insole out and these go in its place.

What they are not is an orthotic. There is no prescription in this, no measurement of your foot, and no certificate of any kind behind them. They are 18 mm of moulded foam sold in six sizes and three colours, and that is the whole of it.

What It Does

• Twelve hours on hardstand: puts 18 mm of moulded foam between your sole and the boot instead of whatever thin liner came out of the box.
• Boots you already own: pull the old insole out, drop these in, lace up. No new boots and no breaking anything in.
• A shoe that runs loose: 18 mm of insole takes up slack in a shoe that is a shade big. It will not help a shoe that is already tight.
• Shape that stays put: the arch rise and the heel dish are moulded into the block itself, not glued on afterwards as separate pads.
• Boot, runner or hiker: the supplier states they can be cut to size, so you trim the toe end back with scissors to suit the shoe you are putting them in.

Key Features

• 230 mm to 280 mm long: the supplier's chart steps 10 mm per size, with forefoot width running 78 mm to 93 mm.
• Sold as a pair: two insoles, a left and a right, per pack.

Limits

This is not a medical device and it is not an orthotic. It will not treat, cure, prevent or manage plantar fasciitis, flat feet, fallen arches, heel spurs, bunions, knee trouble or back trouble, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. Nothing here is fitted to your foot, prescribed, or checked by anyone. If you have a foot problem someone has actually diagnosed, a podiatrist is who to see — custom orthotics are a different product made a different way.

No shock absorption figure, on purpose. Insole listings routinely print a percentage. The supplier publishes no test method behind one, so we publish no number. What you can check is the construction: 18 mm of moulded foam with a lobed base, stated as latex, mesh and polyurethane.

They take up room in the shoe. Eighteen millimetres is a lot of insole. In a shoe that already fits snugly it will make things tight, and it will lift your heel closer to the top of the counter. Take the original insole out first — these are a replacement, not something to stack on top.

Trimming only goes one way. You can cut the toe end shorter. You cannot make them longer, so size up rather than down if you are between two.

The sizes are the supplier's EU designations. Australian and New Zealand shoe sizing is UK-based, not European, so the number on the option is not your number. Go by the millimetres in the size table and compare them against the insole already in your shoe.

The supplier lists latex in the build. If latex is a problem for you, that matters, and it is stated construction rather than something we have had tested.

No certificate of any kind was sighted. There is no therapeutic standard, no orthopaedic standard and no test report behind these, and none is marked on the product.

No stated service life and no care instructions. Moulded foam packs down with use. The supplier gives no figure for how long that takes and no washing or drying instruction.

Q & A

The sizes say EU. What do I pick in Australia or New Zealand?

Do not go off the EU number, because AU and NZ sizing follows the UK scale. Pull the insole out of the shoe you want to use these in, lay a tape along it, and pick the size in the table with the closest length. The supplier runs 230 mm at EU35-36 up to 280 mm at EU45-46, in 10 mm steps.

Do I get one insole or a pair?

A pair. Two insoles, a left and a right, in one pack. The supplier's artwork marks it 2PCS, which is the two pieces that make the pair, not two pairs.

Can I cut them down to fit?

Yes. The supplier states they can be cut to size, and the toe end is the part you trim. Use the old insole as a template and take a little at a time, because you cannot put it back. The arch and heel are moulded and must be left alone.

Do they go in on top of the insole that is already there?

No. Take the original out. At 18 mm through the mid-foot these are a full replacement, and stacking them on an existing insole will cramp the shoe and push your heel up.

Will these sort out my sore feet?

We are not going to answer that one, and any seller who does is guessing. These are a cushioning replacement insole. What they will do is put 18 mm of moulded foam where a packed-down factory liner used to be. Whether that suits your feet is a question for a podiatrist.
