The screw with the pin in the middle stops here.
You are halfway into a job — the mower deck, a dash panel, the camp fridge control board, a power tool that just needs a new switch — and the last screw holding it together is a six-lobe star with a pin sitting dead centre. A normal Torx driver will not seat. Nothing in the toolbox touches it, and the repair stops right there.
Manufacturers fit those tamper-resistant screws to keep casual fingers out of appliances, electronics and vehicle trim. Fair enough — until it is your own gear and you are the one doing the fixing. These bits carry the security Torx profile with the centre relief that clears the pin, in sizes from T5 up to T40, on hex shanks that click into the driver, drill or bit holder you already own.
Pick the shaft length for the job: 50 mm bits for everyday bench work, 75 mm and 100 mm for recessed fixings, or 150 mm for a screw buried deep in a housing. Every shank is stamped with its size, so you are not squinting at tips to find the one you need.
What It Does
- Drives pinned security Torx: the hole in the tip clears the tamper pin that stops a standard driver dead.
- Drives standard Torx too: the same bit turns ordinary six-lobe screws of the same size, so one set covers both.
- Reaches recessed screws: shaft lengths from 50 mm to 150 mm get down into deep housings and panel wells.
- Fits your existing tools: 6.35 mm hex shank clicks into standard bit holders, driver handles and three-jaw drill chucks.
Key Features
- S2 tool steel: the steel grade is stamped on each shank alongside the size, e.g. "S2 TT10".
- Security pin-hole tips: machined six-lobe profiles with the centre relief for tamper pins.
- Four length options: 50 mm (12 bits), 75 mm (11 bits), 100 mm (11 bits) and 150 mm (11 bits).
- Wide size run: from T5 electronics screws up to T40 automotive fixings — the exact list for each set is in the Specs tab.
- Magnetic tips: hold the screw on the bit for one-handed starts in awkward spots, as stated by the supplier.
- Size stamped on every shank: read it off the flat instead of guessing from the tip.
- 6.35 mm hex shank: the standard quick-change fitting — no special holder needed.
Limits
- No handle in the box: these are bits only. You need a 6.35 mm hex bit holder, driver handle or drill to turn them.
- Security Torx only: this set does not drive tri-wing, spanner (snake-eye), torq-set or pin-hex security screws, and obscure formats exist beyond those. Check your screw is a six-lobe star with a centre pin before ordering.
- No impact rating stated: the supplier publishes no impact or torque rating, so we will not claim one. Use them in a hand driver or a drill-driver on a sensible clutch setting — a long, thin T5 or T6 shaft driven at full drill torque will twist or snap.
- Smallest sizes unconfirmed for the pin: the supplier’s photos clearly show the centre pin hole on the mid and large sizes, but on the very smallest bits the photos are not sharp enough to confirm it, and one shank stamp reads plain "T8" rather than "TT8". Those sizes still drive standard Torx either way.
- The 150 mm set runs a different list: it swaps T7 for T35. If one exact size matters to you, check the Specs table before ordering.
Q & A
Will these fit my cordless drill or driver?
Yes. The 6.35 mm hex shank fits standard quick-change bit holders, driver handles and three-jaw drill chucks. There is no handle in the box, so you need one of those to turn them.
Will they also drive normal Torx screws?
Yes. The hole in the tip clears the tamper pin but does not stop the bit engaging an ordinary Torx screw of the same size.
Which length should I pick?
50 mm suits general bench and appliance work. Go 100 mm or 150 mm where the screw sits deep in a housing or behind other parts — a longer reach saves pulling half the machine apart. Note the 150 mm set swaps T7 for T35.
Can I use them in an impact driver?
The supplier states no impact rating, so we will not claim one. In a drill-driver on a clutch they are fine; save the impact driver for bits sold with an impact rating, especially in the small sizes.
What sizes do I actually get?
It depends on the length you choose. The 50 mm set has 12 sizes including T5; the 75 mm and 100 mm sets have 11 sizes from T6 to T40; the 150 mm set has 11 sizes but swaps T7 for T35. The full list for each set is in the Specs tab.
