North Edge Scuba Diving Computer Watch

Depth, no-stop time and heading on one wrist.

You surface off a dive and half of it has already gone. How deep you actually got, how long you sat down there, what the water temperature was — you were reading a console gauge that belongs to the boat, or watching your buddy's computer and guessing at the rest. That night you write the log from memory.

The North Edge Aqua is a digital dive watch that keeps the record for you and puts the numbers where you can see them. In scuba mode the screen carries depth, no-stop time, ceiling, dive and surface speed, water temperature, current time and a compass heading on the one face. There is a separate free-dive mode, and out of the water it is an altimeter, a barometer and a compass for the walk in.

Now the part that matters more than any of that. A dive computer tells a diver when it is safe to come up, and being wrong about that hurts people. So read the Limits tab before you read anything else on this page. This watch does not replace your training, your tables, or a dive computer you and your instructor already trust. We sell it as a second set of numbers on your wrist and a log you do not have to remember — not as the thing that decides your ascent.

It runs on a CR2450 coin cell, so there is nothing to plug in the night before a boat call. The case is 316L stainless steel, which the supplier calls out for corrosion resistance in salt.

What It Does

• Scuba dive mode: depth, no-stop time, ceiling, dive and surface speed, water temperature, current time and compass heading, all on one screen.
• Free dive mode: the supplier lists a separate free-dive mode. Which readouts it shows is not specified by supplier.
• Dive set-up: a nitrox oxygen-mix setting and an adjustable dive safety factor, both set on the surface before you get in.
• Compass: azimuth in degrees with a point-to-north marker, in or out of the water. It has to be calibrated first.
• Altimeter and barometer: altitude in metres and a running air-pressure chart in hPa.
• Thermometer: water and air temperature on the same face as everything else.
• Pedometer: a step count for the walk in from the car park.

• Two dial colours: white or black, both on the same silver case and black silicone strap.

Limits

A water rating is not a depth limit

A water rating is not a depth limit. The caseback is stamped WATERPROOF 100M / 10ATM and the supplier's spec panel repeats the figure. That number comes from a static pressure test — the case held still under pressure in a tank. It is not a certified diving depth and it is not permission to take this watch to 100 metres. Diving adds movement, cold and hands on the buttons, and none of that is in the test.

Separately, the depth gauge itself only reads to 50 metres. Past that you are diving with a watch that has stopped measuring.

Your depth limit comes from your training, your gas and your plan. Never from a number stamped on a caseback.

It does not replace training, tables or a computer you trust

North Edge marks the caseback BUHLMANN ZH-L16C, which names a well-known decompression model. Naming a model is not the same as proving the implementation is right. We have sighted no test certificate for this watch, no EN 13319 mark and no ISO 6425 mark, and North Edge publishes neither. We are not going to pretend otherwise.

So treat the no-stop time, the ceiling and the ascent arrows as a second opinion sitting beside gear you already rely on. Anyone diving should be using equipment they and their instructor trust — and that decision is not ours to make from a web page.

What else it will not do

• No tank pressure: it is not air integrated. It knows nothing about what is left in your cylinder.
• No health sensors: the supplier's spec panel lists no heart-rate and no blood-oxygen sensor, and none appears on any screen in the artwork. It does not measure anything about you.
• Not a smartwatch: no phone app, no notifications and no GPS are listed anywhere by the supplier. It runs a coin cell, not a rechargeable battery.
• The compass needs calibrating: the supplier's own screen guide says to calibrate it before a scuba dive. An uncalibrated heading is worse than no heading.
• Buttons underwater: the supplier does not state whether the crown and buttons may be operated while the watch is submerged. Until that is confirmed, do not assume they can be.
• Changing the cell: a new CR2450 means opening the case back, and that breaks the water seal. Whether the seal is re-testable, and who should do the job, is not specified by supplier.
• Dive log capacity: how many dives it stores is not specified by supplier.

Q & A

Can I dive to 100 metres with it?

No. The 100 m / 10 ATM figure is a static pressure test on the case, not a diving depth, and the depth gauge only reads to 50 metres in any case. Dive to the limits of your training and your plan, not to a number on the back of a watch.

Is this enough on its own for a scuba dive?

We would not sell it to you on that basis. It shows no-stop time, a ceiling and ascent arrows, and the caseback names the BUHLMANN ZH-L16C model — but we have sighted no test certificate and no EN 13319 or ISO 6425 mark. Dive with equipment you and your instructor trust, and let this be the second set of numbers.

Does it read in metres or feet?

The supplier's own screen guide labels the depth readout M/FT and the dial carries both markers, so it switches between the two. Which unit it arrives set to is not specified by supplier.

What happens when the battery goes flat?

It takes a CR2450 coin cell, so there is nothing to charge. A new cell means opening the case back, and that breaks the water seal — treat it as a job that needs the seal put right afterwards. Battery life is not specified by supplier.

Will it cope with saltwater?

The case is 316L stainless steel and the supplier calls out that grade for corrosion resistance. Rinse it in fresh water after every dive in the sea, same as you would the rest of your kit.

Will it fit a smaller wrist or go under a wetsuit cuff?

It is 47 mm across, 15 mm thick and 123 g. That is a big watch. Measure your wrist and your cuff before you decide. Strap length and lug width are not specified by supplier.

How long does delivery take?
