Multi-Tool Carabiner - Camping EDC Clip

Five tools and the clip that carries them.

The knife is in the ute. The screwdriver is in the toolbox at home. And you are standing at the tailgate with a zip tie you cannot cut and a terminal screw you cannot turn, because none of it was actually on you.

Small tools rarely fail by breaking. They fail by being somewhere else. This one screws onto a belt loop, a pack strap or a D-ring and stays there: a 71 mm folding stainless blade, a slotted driver, a Phillips driver, a bottle opener and a glass-breaker point, all hanging off a screw-lock clip.

Read the Limits tab before you buy it. This is an accessory clip with tools on it. It carries no load rating of any kind, and nothing holding a person's weight belongs on it — the supplier's own artwork says the same thing.

What It Does

• Cuts: a 71 mm folding stainless blade with a thumb hole through it, so you can get it open with one hand while the other one is holding the job.
• Drives screws: slotted and Phillips bits flip out of the spine — enough for a battery terminal, a hose clamp, a loose hinge or the screws in a head torch.
• Opens bottles: the opener is cut into the bottom of the frame and works with the blade folded away.
• Breaks glass: a hard point at the base, which the supplier calls tungsten steel, for getting a side window out in an emergency.
• Carries gear: water bottle, keys, a dry bag, a mug, a spare pair of gloves — clipped to a belt loop, pack strap or D-ring with the gate screwed shut.

Key Features

• Five tools, counted: blade, slotted driver, Phillips driver, bottle opener, glass breaker. The clip itself is the sixth function, not a sixth tool.
• Screw-lock gate: a knurled barrel screws down over the gate, so it does not rattle its way open on a corrugated track.
• 71 mm blade: black-coated stainless with a plain drop point, measured against a ruler in the supplier's own photograph.
• Thumb hole: a cut-out through the blade gives you a purchase to open it one-handed, and something to grip when your hands are wet.
• Aluminium alloy frame: the supplier's stated material, anodised and skeletonised to drop weight.
• 92.5 g: the supplier's stated net weight. Light enough that you stop noticing it on a belt loop.
• 116 x 56 mm folded: pocket-sized, and the box it turns up in is 115 x 60 x 15 mm.
• Five colours: black, blue, red, purple or yellow — colour-code whose is whose, or which pack it lives on.

Limits

• Not climbing gear: there is no kN figure on it, no certificate has been sighted, and the supplier's own artwork states it is not intended to support human weight when rock climbing. Do not use it for climbing, abseiling, rope access, fall arrest, lifting, rigging or vehicle recovery. Nothing that holds a person goes on this clip.
• What a real one carries: a load-rated carabiner is stamped with a figure in kN and marked to EN 12275 or EN 362. This one has neither mark. If the job is holding a person, buy it from a shop that puts that certificate in your hand.
• Blade lock not stated: the supplier does not say whether the blade locks open, and no lock is visible in the photographs. Treat it as a folder that can shut on you — fingers out of the closing path, and no body weight behind the cut.
• Blade steel not stated: "stainless steel" is all the supplier gives. No grade, no hardness figure. It is a light-duty utility blade for cord, tape, packaging and food, not a bushcraft knife, and it will want a touch-up on a stone.
• Knife carry rules: the law on carrying a knife differs between Australian states and territories, and again in New Zealand. Working out what applies where you live and where you are travelling is the buyer's to do, and we do not give advice on it.
• Glass breaker untested here: the point is there and the supplier calls it tungsten steel. Nobody at BushLine has tested it and no standard is printed on it. Do not build an escape plan around a tool you have never tried.
• The drivers are small: short bits on a short frame. Fine for a terminal screw, a hose clamp or a battery cover, and no substitute for a real screwdriver on anything properly tight.
• No water rating: none is stated and none is printed on it. Dry it and put a drop of oil through the pivot after it gets wet, or the blade will spot.

Q & A

Can I climb on it, or clip it into a harness?

No. It is an accessory clip with tools on it. There is no kN figure on it, no certificate has been sighted, and the supplier's own artwork says it is not intended to support human weight when rock climbing. Use it for gear, never for a person.

How big is the blade, and can I carry it?

The blade is 71 mm, measured against a ruler in the supplier's photograph. Knife carry law differs by state and territory, and again in New Zealand — what is unremarkable in a toolbox on your own block is not automatically fine in a pocket in town. Checking the rules where you live and travel is yours to do; we are not the people to give advice on it.

Will the gate shake open in a pack?

Not if you screw it shut. The knurled barrel threads down over the gate and holds it closed. Left loose it behaves like any spring gate and a strap can nudge it open, which is exactly how gear goes missing off the outside of a pack.

Does the blade lock when it is open?

The supplier does not state it and we cannot see a lock in the photographs, so work on the assumption that it can fold on your fingers. That is the honest answer rather than a comfortable one.

I want the clip without the knife. What else is there?
