Track My Order

A big, bold chronograph without the big-name price.

Most blokes want one decent-looking watch that can handle the week — work, the pub, a mate's wedding — without costing a month's pay. The trouble with budget watches is the guessing: is the case really steel, do the little dials do anything, and what does the water rating actually let you do?

The CURREN 8355 is a 47 mm quartz chronograph on a solid stainless steel band, with luminous hands, a date window and five colourways from blue-on-blue to silver and white. This page tells you exactly what the supplier states it is — and just as plainly, what it is not, over in the Limits tab. Read that tab before you buy, not after.

What It Does
  • Keeps honest time: quartz movement (the supplier states a Japanese movement) with luminous hour and minute hands for low light.
  • Stopwatch counters: the supplier's function sheet shows a working chronograph — top pusher to start and stop, bottom pusher to reset, with minute and hour counters on the dial.
  • 24-hour subdial: the third small dial tracks 24-hour time, handy on shift work when 6 could be morning or night.
  • Date window: sits between the 4 and 5 markers and sets from the crown.
  • Handles the weather: rated 3 ATM, so rain and splashes are fine. Swimming is not — the Limits tab has the full picture.
Key Features
  • 47 mm dial: big, readable face with applied markers and a full bezel scale.
  • Stainless steel band: solid-link band, 24 mm wide and 240 mm long including the case.
  • Alloy case: 13 mm thick. The band is stainless steel; the case is alloy — we say so because plenty of listings don't.
  • Three subdials: chronograph minute and hour counters plus a 24-hour dial, stated as functional on the supplier's own function sheet.
  • Luminous hands: hour and minute hands glow green in the dark after light exposure.
  • Date calendar: quick to read, set from the middle crown position.
  • Five colourways: rose gold blue, silver blue, silver black, gold black and silver gold white.
  • 148 g on the wrist: enough weight to feel solid, not enough to be a nuisance.
  • Boxed: arrives with its tag in a CURREN presentation box.

Limits

Every watch listing should have this section. Here is ours, straight up.

  • No swimming, no showers: the 3 ATM (30 m) rating covers rain and splashes only — the supplier's own conditions chart rules out showering, swimming and diving. The 30 m figure is a pressure-test rating, not a depth you can take it to. We are not going to call this watch waterproof, because it is not.
  • Keep the crown and pushers dry: operating them with water on the case is the easiest way to get moisture past the seals on any watch at this rating.
  • Alloy case, not steel: only the band is stainless steel. The case is a metal alloy — normal at this price, but it is not the same material and we will not pretend otherwise.
  • Supplier-stated functions: the chronograph and 24-hour subdials are documented as working on the supplier's function sheet. We publish that as the supplier's claim — we have not bench-timed one ourselves.
  • No standards stated: there is no shock, anti-magnetic or dive certification stated for this watch — it is not tested to ISO 6425, so nothing about it is a dive instrument. Treat it as an everyday sports-dress watch.
  • It wears big: 47 mm across and 13 mm tall. On a slim wrist it will look and feel large — check the 240 mm band length against your wrist before ordering.

Q & A

Can I swim or shower with it?

No. 3 ATM covers rain, splashes and washing your hands. The supplier's own chart says swimming needs 5 ATM and this watch is not rated for it.

Do the three small dials actually work?

The supplier's function sheet says yes: top pusher starts and stops the stopwatch, bottom pusher resets it, and the small dials show chronograph minutes, chronograph hours and 24-hour time. Some cheaper fashion watches wear painted-on subdials, so it is a fair question — on this model the supplier documents them as functional.

Is the case stainless steel?

The band is. The case is alloy — lighter and cheaper to machine. That is standard at this price, and we would rather tell you than have you find out.

Is this a smartwatch?

No — it is a plain quartz analogue watch. Nothing to charge, nothing to pair, no apps. It just tells the time until the battery needs changing.

What battery does it take, and how long does it last?

The supplier does not state the battery type or life. When it runs down, any watch shop can open the caseback and fit the correct cell.

How long does delivery take?

10–14 days from the day you order — allow up to 3 weeks. Shipping is free to Australia and New Zealand.
