Know what's transmitting before you settle in.
You check into a roadside motel, or come back to the 4x4 after a week parked in a public lot, and there is no way to tell by looking whether something in that room or under that tray is watching, listening or reporting your position. Hidden cameras in short-stay rooms are a real, documented problem, and cheap magnet-mount GPS trackers are how thieves follow a high-value rig home.
The T15 is a pocket-sized sweep tool with four separate jobs: an RF receiver that picks up devices actively transmitting between 1 MHz and 6.5 GHz, a magnetic-field mode for magnet-mounted trackers, a red-filter lens finder for spotting camera lenses by their reflection, and a vibration alarm you can hang on a door handle overnight. There is a small LED torch on the end for dark corners.
Be clear about what it is: a low-cost first-pass sweep tool, not a certified counter-surveillance instrument. It catches the cheap, common gear that causes most of the trouble. The Limits tab spells out what it cannot do — read it before you buy.

- RF signal sweep: picks up devices actively transmitting between 1 MHz and 6.5 GHz, which covers GSM, 3G, 4G, 5G, Bluetooth and 2.4/5.8 GHz Wi-Fi, at a supplier-stated range of 50 mm to 8 m.
- Magnetic field mode: senses the strong magnets used to stick GPS trackers under a vehicle, so it can flag a magnet-mount tracker even while the tracker is not transmitting.
- Lens finder: infrared LEDs and a red-filter viewfinder make a camera lens glint back at you, wired or wireless, at a supplier-stated 100 mm to 6 m — line of sight only.
- Door alarm mode: hang it on the inside door handle and it sounds an alarm if the handle is disturbed.
- LED torch: a built-in light for checking vents, fittings and under-body cavities.

Limits
This category is full of pages claiming one of these will find every camera and bug in existence. It will not, and here is exactly where the edges are.
- Transmitting devices only: the RF sweep hears devices that are actively sending. A record-only camera saving to a memory card, or a wired camera on a cable, transmits nothing and is invisible to an RF sweep. Only the lens finder can catch those, and only if you can see the lens.
- Line of sight only: the viewfinder shows a lens only when you are looking straight at it. A lens behind smoked glass, buried deep in a fitting or pointed away from you will not glint.
- A quiet sweep proves nothing: no alert means no device found, not no device present. Treat a clean result as one more check done, never as a guarantee the room is clear.
- Magnets, not trackers: magnetic mode senses the mounting magnet. A tracker that is taped, zip-tied or hard-wired carries no magnet to find — sweep with RF as well, and physically check the usual hiding spots.
- Busy RF areas confuse it: near a Wi-Fi router or in a shopping-centre car park, everything is transmitting. Expect false alerts, drop the sensitivity, and work close in.
- Supplier-stated figures: the frequency range, detection distances and battery life are the supplier's numbers, not independently verified, and no certification of any kind was sighted for this unit.
- Not a professional sweep: a proper technical surveillance inspection uses spectrum analysers and trained operators. This is a first-pass check for travellers, not a substitute for that.
Q & A
Will it find every hidden camera?
No, and be wary of any listing that says otherwise. It finds cameras that are transmitting, and camera lenses you can get line of sight to with the viewfinder. A wired or record-only camera hidden out of view can defeat both. Used methodically — RF pass first, then a slow lens-finder pass of anything facing the bed or bathroom — it catches the cheap Wi-Fi cameras that make up most of what actually gets planted.
How do I sweep the car for a tracker?
Two passes. Magnetic mode first, moved slowly around wheel arches, bumper cavities, the tow bar and under the tray — that flags magnet mounts even when the tracker is asleep. Then an RF pass with the antenna out. Many trackers only transmit every few minutes, so a quiet reading now does not rule one out — repeat the pass.
Does it block or jam anything?
No. It is a receiver — it listens and alerts, nothing more. It does not interfere with any signal, so finding a device and dealing with it are two separate jobs.
What does the door alarm mode actually do?
Hang the unit on the inside handle of a motel or cabin door and it sounds an alarm when the handle is moved. It is a noise-maker to wake you, not a lock — it stops nobody on its own.
How long does the battery last?
The supplier states up to 25 hours of continuous use, or around 25 days on standby, from a 150 mAh battery. Those are their figures, not our measurements, and real life depends on mode and sensitivity. It recharges over USB-C with the included cable.
