Tactical Active Sports Safety Helmet

Your helmet fights your ear muffs, and you lose.

Two hours into a shoot or a training day and it is always the same story. The helmet shell is sitting on top of your ear cups, the seal has broken on one side, and you have a pressure headache building behind your ear. So you take the muffs off, or you take the helmet off. One of them goes, and whichever one it is, you have just given away the protection you turned up wearing.

This is a high cut shell, which means the sides are cut away well above the ear. Your muffs or your comms headset sit against your head, not against the helmet, and the moulded slot at the back of the liner gives a headset band somewhere to run without squeezing your skull. Side rails take a torch or a camera, the front bracket takes a night vision mount, and a dial at the back winds the suspension in and out.

Be clear about what it is, though. The supplier describes the shell as engineering plastic and nothing more specific, and there is no standard moulded anywhere on it. We looked. That makes it a sports and airsoft helmet — a knock-and-scrape shell and a mounting platform — and not a certified safety helmet. The Limits tab spells out exactly where that line sits.

What It Does

• Airsoft with comms: the cut-away sides mean a headset seals on your head instead of riding up on the shell, so you can still hear a call at the end of a long game.
• Paintball and skirmish days: takes the incidental knocks — branches, tree trunks, a barrel swung by the bloke behind you — without you carrying weight all afternoon.
• Night work on a private block: the front shroud bracket carries a night vision mount and the elastic cord is there so the unit does not hit the dirt if the mount lets go.
• Filming and rec work: the side rails give an action camera or a torch a fixed home, which beats a head strap that slides every time you look up.
• Sharing kit around a group: the rear dial winds the suspension in and out by hand, so the same helmet moves between people between rounds.

Limits

This is the part most sellers skip, so here it is straight.

• No certification found: we read every supplier image and inspected the shell markings. There is no standard moulded or printed on this helmet and the supplier publishes none. Treat it as an uncertified sports helmet.
• Not an industrial safety helmet: do not wear it on a site, in a mine, or anywhere a certified hard hat is required. It is not rated for falling objects and it will not satisfy a site induction.
• Not ballistic protection: it is a plastic shell. It stops nothing that is travelling fast, and nobody should be relying on it as if it does.
• Not a bike or climbing helmet: there is no rating for a fall, an impact at speed or a rock strike. Use the certified helmet made for those jobs.
• Shell material is vague: the supplier states only engineering plastic. We are not going to name a polymer we cannot verify, so the specification table says what the supplier says and no more.
• No head size range published: the dial adjuster covers a spread, but the supplier does not state which circumferences it fits, so we do not either.
• Vented, so not weatherproof: the crown is open to let heat out. Rain gets in through the vents. No water rating is published and we make no claim.
• Accessories are not included: torches, cameras, night vision units and headsets in the photographs show what the mounts take. One helmet is what ships.

Q & A

Will my ear muffs actually fit under it?

That is the whole point of a high cut. The shell stops well above the ear, so the cups sit on your head rather than on the helmet, and there is a moulded slot in the liner for a headset band to pass through. Cup size varies between brands, so measure yours against the 220 mm width in the specification table if you are running something bulky.

Can I use it for work?

No. There is no certification marking on it, so it does not belong on a work site. If you need a hard hat for site work, buy a certified one — that is a different product and a different purchase.

Does the night vision bracket come off?

Yes. The front shroud is a bolted, removable component, and the elastic retention cord that runs from the mount to the shell comes off with it.

How does the sizing work?

A dial at the back of the suspension winds the internal band in and out with one hand. The chin harness is a four-point webbing setup with sliders on both sides and a chin cup, all adjustable by hand.

What is the difference between multicam and black multicam?

Multicam is the tan and green pattern; black multicam is the same pattern printed in blacks and dark greys. Both carry a small price premium over the four solid finishes.

How long will it take to arrive?
