Ear protection you don't end up taking off.

Standard muffs work by shutting everything out, and that is exactly why they come off. You cannot hear the spotter, you cannot hear the two-way, you cannot hear the bloke walking up behind you. So halfway through the shift one cup gets lifted, then both, and by smoko they are hanging round your neck. The failure is not the muffs breaking. It is you taking them off, and then you have nothing on your ears at all.

The GEN 6 is an electronic set. Microphones on the outside of each cup pick up what is going on around you and feed it to the speakers inside, so conversation and radio traffic still get through with the cups sitting on your head. A power switch and separate volume up and volume down buttons sit recessed in the cup so you do not knock them with a hard hat brim or a pack strap.

It mounts two ways. Wear it on the padded headband like an ordinary set of muffs, or pull the headband off and clip the cups to a helmet — every colourway ships with a pair of rail adapters and the mounting plates, and the supplier states they suit OPS Core ARC and Team Wendy M-LOK rails. On the helmet the arms swing right out clear of your ears when you want some air, and fold flat on top of the shell when you are done.

Straight up, before you read another line: the supplier publishes no noise reduction figure for this headset. No NRR, no SNR, no attenuation number, and no standard marked on it anywhere across forty-nine supplier images. We are not going to invent one. The Limits tab spells out what that means for you.

What It Does

• Hear the call without lifting a cup: the reversing beeper, the dogman, someone shouting your name from the deck — the outside mics pass it through, so you are not choosing between hearing the job and covering your ears.
• Run the radio through the same set: a boom mic and a socket on the cup take a push-to-talk lead, so comms and ear protection become one piece of kit instead of two fighting each other on your head.
• Put the boom on your good side: the microphone and the lead both swap between the left and right cup, so the mic sits where you talk and the cable runs down the side that suits how you work.
• Helmet on site, headband on the block: the same headset goes on a rail-equipped helmet during the week and back on the headband for a weekend on the property, without buying a second set.
• Air your ears without going bare: on the helmet mount the arms swing outwards so the cups come off your ears for a breather between jobs, then swing straight back — nothing gets put down on a tray and left behind.

Limits

• No attenuation figure exists: the supplier publishes no NRR, no SNR and no dB figure, and none appears on the product or in any of the forty-nine supplier images. We will not estimate one. If your site requires a hearing protector of a stated class, this headset cannot be shown to meet it.
• No standard is marked on it: nothing on this headset is printed or marked to AS/NZS 1270, EN 352-1 or EN 352-3, and no test certificate was sighted. We are naming those standards so you know exactly what to look for on the box of anything you buy for a rated workplace.
• Not proven against any one noise source: without an attenuation figure nobody can tell you whether it is adequate beside a rock breaker, behind a chainsaw or on a rifle range. Anyone who puts a number on it is guessing.
• It will not talk to a radio on its own: the cup carries a socket, but the push-to-talk lead that matches your radio is a separate part and is not shown in the supplier's kit photographs.
• It is not waterproof: the supplier calls the battery cap a waterproof swivel cover. No IP rating is published, so treat the set as weather resistant and no more. Do not submerge it.
• It is not a helmet and not eyewear: it clips to a helmet, it does not replace one, and nothing here does anything for your head or your eyes.
• Flat cells kill the electronics: when the batteries go the pass-through and the radio audio go with them. The cups still sit over your ears as plain passive muffs until you change the cells.

How much noise does it actually block?

We cannot tell you, and we are not going to make a number up. No NRR, no SNR and no dB attenuation figure is published for this headset, and no standard is marked on it. What it is, is a sealed cup over each ear with an electronic pass-through. That is as far as the evidence goes, and that is as far as we will go.

Will it work with my two-way?

Only with a push-to-talk lead that matches your radio. The headset gives you a boom mic and a socket on the cup; the lead between that socket and a Kenwood, Motorola, ICOM or Midland handheld is a separate part, and no lead appears in the supplier's kit photographs. Check the connector your radio takes before you order one.

Will it fit my helmet?

The supplier states it suits OPS Core ARC and Team Wendy M-LOK rails, and a pair of adapters plus four mounting plates come with every colourway. The two rail types are not interchangeable, so check which one your helmet actually carries.

What batteries does it take, and can I use it when they go flat?

Two AAA cells, per the supplier's own artwork, behind a screw-down cap on the cup. Whether cells ship with it is not specified by supplier, and run time is not specified by supplier either. With flat cells it still works as an ordinary passive muff — you lose the outside-sound pass-through and the radio audio, not the cups.

What is the difference between the colourways?

The finish and the price, and nothing else. Black, grey, tan and olive green are the four plain colours; CP is MultiCam and BCP is MultiCam Black, and those two sit at the higher price. Every one of the six ships with rail adapters finished to match.

How long does delivery take?
