The toolbox is always in the other ute.

Fence wire needs twitching, a battery terminal is loose, a hose clamp has let go — and the tools are at home in the shed. Most of the jobs that stop you dead don't need a toolbox. They need pliers, a blade and a driver that are actually on you when it happens.

The Ganzo G202B is a full-size multi-tool built around spring-loaded needle-nose pliers. The knife, saw, scissors and openers fold out from the outside of the handles, so you get to them without unfolding the pliers first. A magnetic bit adapter and twelve driver bits ride in the same belt pouch, which covers screw heads a plain multi-tool can't touch.

Be clear about what it is: at 270 g and 105 mm closed it's a glovebox, crib bag and belt tool, not a keyring trinket. And it's honest 440C stainless at a working price — it isn't pretending to be a boutique tool costing four times as much.

What It Does
  • One tool in the ute: grip a rounded nut, pull a staple, strip a wire or twitch tie wire without walking back for the toolbox.
  • Screws on the spot: the magnetic adapter and twelve bits tighten the guard, the gate hinge or the switch plate that a single fold-out driver can't reach.
  • Camp and van repairs: saw a tent peg, cut cord with the serrated blade, open the cans and bottles — one pouch on the belt instead of a bag of separates.
  • Fiddly reach jobs: needle-nose jaws get into carburettor springs, split pins and fish hooks where fingers and fat pliers won't.
  • Lives where you do: the press-stud nylon pouch sits on a belt or drops in the crib bag, with the bit strip stored alongside the tool.
Key Features
  • Spring-loaded plier head: needle-nose tip, serrated gripping jaws and wire cutters in one head.
  • Outside-opening tools: blade, saw, scissors and openers deploy with the pliers still folded.
  • 440C stainless blade: Ganzo's published steel for this model, with a separate part-serrated blade for rope and cord.
  • Twelve driver bits: on a magnetic adapter that fits the tool's fold-out drive tang — slotted, Phillips and hex-type bits shown in the photos.
  • Full working set: wood saw, scissors, can opener, bottle opener, awl, slotted screwdriver and wire stripper notch.
  • Black-coated stainless frame: skeletonised handles, marked G202B on the tool itself.
  • 105 mm closed, 270 g: Ganzo's published figures — a proper handful, sized for a belt pouch.
  • Nylon belt pouch included: press-stud closure, holds the tool and the bit strip together.

Limits

  • Treat the tools as non-locking: Ganzo's own spec sheet doesn't state a locking mechanism for the fold-out tools and owner reports differ. Cut away from yourself and never lever sideways with an open blade or saw.
  • Not for live electrical work: no insulation rating is published. Isolate the circuit before you put any part of this tool near wiring.
  • Not a keyring tool: 270 g and 105 mm closed. If you want something for a keyring, this is the wrong pick — look at a mini pocket tool instead.
  • High-tensile fence wire: Ganzo publishes no cutting capacity. The cutters suit electrical and tie wire; keep dedicated fencing pliers for high-tensile strand.
  • Knife carry laws apply: it carries a knife blade, and the rules on carrying one in public differ between Australian states and territories and in New Zealand. Knowing your local rules is your responsibility — this is general information, not legal advice.
  • Stainless, not rust-proof: 440C resists corrosion but will spot if left wet with salt. Rinse in fresh water and wipe with oil after boat or beach use.

Q & A

Does the knife blade lock open?

Ganzo's spec sheet doesn't state a lock for the fold-out tools, and owner reports differ — some describe the tools holding firmly, others treat them as friction-folding. Until you've checked your own unit, work as if nothing locks: cut away from your body and don't push a blade or saw side-on.

Can I open the tools without unfolding the pliers?

Yes. The blade, saw, scissors and openers sit on the outside of the handles, so they fold out with the tool closed — you can see this in the product photos.

What bits come in the set?

Twelve bits on a magnetic adapter, which is Ganzo's published count. The photos show slotted, Phillips and hex-type bits, but Ganzo doesn't publish the exact assortment or the bit shank size — measure before assuming they mix with your existing driver set.

Will the cutters handle fencing wire?

Ganzo publishes no cutting capacity, so treat high-tensile fence wire as a job for fencing pliers. The spring-loaded cutters are made for electrical wire, tie wire and cable ties.

Can it go in carry-on luggage?

No. It has a knife blade, so it belongs in checked baggage. Airlines and airport security treat multi-tools with blades the same as knives.

What's in the box?

The multi-tool, the twelve-bit set with magnetic adapter, and the nylon belt pouch with press-stud closure — all shown in the photos. The bit strip stores in the pouch with the tool.
