Two Way Radio Holster (Molle)

A radio on the seat is a call you never hear.

You climb out of the ute and the radio stays on the seat. Or it goes into a jacket pocket, and somewhere between the shed and the back paddock it works its way out. Either way, when the call comes, you are not on the other end of it.

Miss a call on the two-way and it runs from minor to serious very quickly — someone standing where they should not be, a machine reversing onto a blind spot, an incident report at the end of the shift. Communication is everything. You cannot afford to fail on that.

This is a plain nylon pouch that puts the handset on a chest rig, a pack strap or a belt, where your hand can find it without your eyes leaving the job. It is an open-topped pouch with an adjustable front strap, not a moulded holster cut for one model — the antenna stands straight out of the top, and the strap and cord take up the slack around whatever you drop in it.

The fit question, up front: the supplier publishes no internal dimensions and names no radio model this fits. On a holster that is the one thing deciding whether it is any use to you, so measure your own handset first — body height, width, depth, and the belt clip too if you leave it on. What It Does

• Keeps the handset on you: on the chest, the pack strap or the belt, instead of on a seat or in a pocket it can work out of.
• Takes a spread of sizes: an adjustable strap and an elastic cord rather than a moulded shell, so it is not cut to one handset.
• Leaves the antenna clear: the top is open, so the whip stands out of the pouch and antenna length is not what limits the fit.
• Mounts without tools: two webbing straps weave through MOLLE webbing and snap shut on press studs.
• Doubles as a belt pouch: the same two straps pass over a belt, so you do not need a MOLLE rig to use it.
• Gives you a clip point: a D-ring on the front for a lanyard, a microphone lead or a set of keys.

Key Features

• 800D nylon and polyester: the supplier's product data lists the fabric as 800D nylon with polyester. No fabric brand name is claimed for it.
• Genuine MOLLE attachment: two vertical webbing straps on the back, each folding down onto a press stud — the standard way a pouch joins PALS webbing, not decorative loops.
• Side-release front strap: an adjustable webbing strap across the face on a plastic side-release buckle, so the handset is strapped down rather than just sitting in a bag.
• Elastic top cord: a shock cord on a spring cord lock cinches around the top of the radio and takes up the difference between a fat handset and a slim one.
• Open top, no lid: no antenna cut-out is needed because there is no lid — the antenna passes straight out of the opening.
• Front D-ring: a moulded D-ring stitched to the front panel on its own webbing tab.
• Four colourways: black, camouflage in a grey and tan digital pattern, brown, and CP camo in a multicam-style pattern.
• Sold singly: one pouch. The radio shown in the photographs is not included.

Limits

• No internal dimensions: the supplier states none. The only figure printed on the artwork is a packaging size of 160 mm × 110 mm × 30 mm, and that is the flat-packed parcel it ships in — not the space inside the pouch. We are not going to convert one into the other and call it a fit range.
• No compatible model list: nothing in the supplier's artwork or product data names a single radio. The previous version of this page said it fitted the GME TX series and "all major radio brands". Neither claim was sourced from anything, and both are gone.
• It holds, it does not lock: an open top, one strap and an elastic cord. Tipped upside down or taken hard against something, a handset can still come out of it.
• No water rating at all: the supplier states none. Woven nylon will shrug off a shower, but the top is open, there is no seal and no rating, so nothing here is water resistant in any measured sense. Do not treat it as a dry bag.
• It joins MOLLE, it does not add any: the back carries mounting straps, not PALS rows. You cannot hang another pouch off this one.
• No drainage hole stated: none is stated and none is visible in the photographs. Water that gets in the open top has no drain out the bottom.
• Camouflage is a print: these patterns are dyed fabric and nothing more. This is commercial gear — no service issue, no military affiliation, and no certification of any kind.
• The green one is not sold: several supplier photographs show an olive green pouch. The colours actually available here are black, camouflage, brown and CP camo.
• No weight published: the supplier gives none, so we cannot tell you what it adds to a loaded rig.

Q & A

How do I know it will fit my radio?

Measure the radio, because the pouch is the part we cannot give you a number for. No internal dimensions are published. What we can tell you is the shape of the thing: it is adjustable rather than moulded — open top, a front strap that lets out, an elastic cord that cinches in — so it takes a spread of handset sizes rather than one. Measure your handset body for height, width and depth, and add the belt clip if you leave it fitted. Ignore the antenna; the top is open.

Will it fit the Baofeng BF-88E you sell?

We cannot confirm it, and we are not going to say yes on a guess. With no internal dimensions published for this pouch, there is nothing to check the radio against. What we can give you is the radio's own figures, which we do publish: our Baofeng BF-88E two-way radio set measures 170 mm tall including the antenna, 55 mm wide and 35 mm deep. The antenna is not the obstacle here, so it is the body that has to sit down in the pouch.

Is this real MOLLE, or just loops sewn on the back?

Real attachment. The back has two vertical webbing straps that weave down through the PALS webbing on a vest or pack and fasten with a press stud each, which is the standard MOLLE method. What it does not have is PALS webbing of its own on the front, so you cannot attach anything else to it.

Can I use it on a plain belt instead?

Yes. The same two straps pass over a belt and snap shut, rather than weaving through webbing. There is no separate belt loop — the MOLLE straps do both jobs.

Does the antenna have to come off?

No. There is no lid, so the antenna stands out of the open top. Antenna length is not what limits the fit on this pouch; the body of the radio is.

One photo says 160 x 110 x 30 mm. Is that the pouch?

No, and it is worth being clear about because it is easy to read the wrong way. That figure is printed on the supplier's own artwork as "packaging size" — the flat-packed parcel the pouch ships in. It is not the outside of the pouch and it is certainly not the space inside it. No internal measurement is published anywhere.
