A torch you can't reach is no torch.
It is dark, you need the light now, and it is in the bottom of the crib bag or rolling around the ute footwell. So you go looking for it, in the dark, which is exactly when you can least afford to be looking for anything. Not seeing leads to trips and hazards, and that runs on to investigations, lost time and incidents.
This is a holster for the torch you already own. Two elastic bands stretch over the barrel and hold it against a padded backing plate, and the clip on the back swivels through a full circle and locks in twelve positions. Turn it out to the side and the torch lights the job while both your hands stay on the job.
It clips over a belt, a trouser waistband, a pack strap or the cummerbund on a plate carrier. Both ends of the pouch are open, so the head sticks out one end, the tail cap sticks out the other, and you draw it straight up without fishing for it.
The torch is not included. What actually matters is whether yours fits, so the fit numbers are in the table below — and where the supplier's own drawing disagrees with the supplier's own text, we have printed both rather than pick the flattering one.
What It Does
- Keeps the torch on you: two elastic bands stretch over the barrel and pull it flat against the backing plate.
- Points where you look: the clip swivels a full circle and locks into twelve positions, so the beam goes down at the work instead of across it.
- Frees both hands: turn the torch out to the side and it works as a waist lamp while you use a spanner, a notepad or a rope.
- Draws straight out: the pouch is open top and bottom, so you grip the head and pull — no flap, no fumbling.
- Leaves the switch clear: the open bottom keeps the tail cap reachable on torches that switch at the tail.
- Goes where your kit is: belt, waistband, pack strap or carrier cummerbund, on whichever hip suits you.
Key Features
- Rotating clip: moulded clip on a swivel disc, twelve locking positions through a full 360-degree turn.
- Twin elastic bands: hold the torch body, with a plastic slider between them to take up slack on a slimmer barrel.
- Open both ends: head out the top, tail cap out the bottom.
- Padded backing plate: 150 mm long and 55 mm wide, so the clip pressure sits on the plate and not on your hip.
- Woven synthetic fibre: the supplier states synthetic fibres and publishes no denier figure.
- Four colourways: black, tan, green and a multi-terrain camouflage listed as MC.
- Light on the belt: 62 g empty on the supplier's figure.
- Holster only: one holster per order, no torch.
Limits
Here is what this holster will not do.
- It is not MOLLE: there is no woven strap to thread through webbing. The clip hooks over an edge, and on a MOLLE panel it hooks over one of the horizontal rows. That is a clip, not a weave, and a hard enough pull will take it off.
- No load rating: a fabric pouch with a plastic clip. It carries no published load figure, it is not a rated attachment point, and it is not climbing equipment. Nothing goes on it that would hurt somebody if it dropped.
- Nothing latches shut: the two elastic bands are the whole retention system. It is a working holster for a shift, not a way to carry a torch through a rollover.
- The fit figures disagree: the supplier's dimensioned drawing puts the torch barrel range at roughly 25 to 35 mm and the belt range at 35 to 68 mm. The supplier's text spec quotes single figures of 30 mm and 70 mm. Both are printed in the table. Measure the fattest part of your torch before you decide.
- No water rating: none is published, so treat it as fabric. It will not keep anything dry.
- No torch in the box: the torches in the supplier's photographs are there to show the fit. You get the holster.
Q & A
Will my torch fit?
Measure the fattest part of the barrel, usually the head. The supplier's drawing says the elastic stretches over roughly 25 to 35 mm; the supplier's text spec says 30 mm. The two do not agree and we would rather tell you that than pick one. Past 35 mm you are outside anything the supplier claims.
Does a torch come with it?
No. One holster, no torch, no batteries.
Will it go on a MOLLE vest or a duty belt?
On a duty belt, yes — the drawing puts the clip range at 35 to 68 mm, so a 50 mm work belt sits comfortably inside it. On a MOLLE vest it clips over a row of webbing rather than weaving through it, which holds for normal wear but is not a locked attachment.
Which way does the beam point?
Wherever you set it. The clip locks in twelve positions around the circle, so you can run the torch straight down your leg, angled out at the work, or head-up so the tail switch is under your thumb.
Can I hang gear off it?
No. There is no published load rating on the clip or the stitching, so it holds a torch and nothing that matters if it falls.
How long does delivery take?
10 to 14 days from the day you order, and allow up to three weeks. Shipping is free to Australia and New Zealand. Regional and remote addresses take longer again.
