A light work shoe you'll actually keep wearing.

Most of what lands on your toes never came off a crane. It's a length of RHS rolling off the bench, a bit of pipe out of the ute tray, a pallet corner in the shed. And most puncture injuries come off a nail sitting in a bit of scrap nobody picked up. You don't see it, you stand on it, and now you're off the tools for a fortnight over something that took a second.

The trouble is that a proper rated boot is heavy and hot, so it ends up parked by the door. You walk the yard in runners instead, and a runner has nothing in it at all. That's the real failure — not the boot letting go, but the boot not being on your foot.

This one sits in between. Pigskin suede and mesh upper, a plastic toe cap over the toes, a textile puncture-resistant layer through the midsole, and a rubber outsole. About 454 grams a shoe on the supplier's own scales, which is runner territory. Comfortable enough that you leave it on for the drive home.

Read the Limits tab before you buy it. No safety standard is marked on this shoe, and we have not sighted a certificate for it. If your site mandates a rated boot, this is not that boot — buy it for the shed, the yard, the workshop and the truck, and keep your rated pair for where they're required.

What It Does

• Puts something over your toes: a moulded plastic toe cap sits under the front of the upper, where a bare runner has nothing but suede.
• Puts something under your foot: a woven puncture-resistant textile layer runs through the midsole, which is the bit that stops a nail coming up through a thin sole.
• Stays light enough to wear: around 454 grams a shoe, so it doesn't feel like the gear you take off the moment you're done.
• Breathes in the heat: mesh panels through the quarters and a mesh lining, rather than a fully closed leather boot.
• Shows up in a headlight: a reflective strip runs down both sides for walking the yard or the shoulder after dark.
• Doesn't announce itself: black, khaki and grey, cut like a trainer, so it passes for normal footwear off site.

• Toe cap: plastic, not steel and not a rated composite. The supplier's cutaway calls it a "plastic baotou".

• Weight: approximately 454 grams per shoe on the supplier's scale photo. The size on the scale isn't stated.
• Sizes and colours: EU 36 to 48, in black, khaki and grey. Every size is offered in every colour.

Limits

This is the part that matters, so it goes first rather than last.

• No safety standard is marked on the shoe: we went through every supplier image looking for a moulded mark on the sole, a stitched label in the tongue or a marking on the box, and there is none. Do not rely on this as certified PPE for a workplace that requires a rated boot. If a rated boot is a condition of you being on site, wear a rated boot and check it with your safety officer.
• About the certificate in the gallery: one of the supplier images is a "Declaration of Conformity" listing a test standard of "BS EN ISO 20345:2011". It names a trade mark of "tinggu" and a model number of "T601" — neither of which appears anywhere on this shoe, which is branded "9KSAFETY.JB". It is a document about a different product. We have sighted no certificate for the shoe we are selling, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
• The toe cap is plastic: not steel, not a rated composite. The supplier publishes no impact figure for it, so we cannot tell you what it will and won't take. Treat it as better than a runner and worse than a rated boot.
• No electrical rating at all: there is no anti-static rating, no electrical hazard rating and no insulation figure published for this shoe. Do not choose it for live electrical work on that basis.
• The midsole layer covers the midsole: it does not protect the sides of your foot, the top of your foot or the upper. A nail through the side of a suede panel goes straight through.
• It is a low cut: no ankle coverage and no ankle support. Uneven ground, ladders and rock all favour a boot.
• Suede and mesh are not water resistant: no water rating is published and none is claimed. Wet grass, a hose or a puddle and your foot gets wet. Suede also stains and scuffs, and the khaki shows it worst.
• No heat, fuel or chemical rating: nothing is published about hot surfaces, sparks, welding, fuel or oil contact. Do not put it near any of them on the strength of this page.
• Sizing is the real risk here: the range is EU 36 to 48 only, in whole sizes, and no width fitting is published. Measure your foot in centimetres against the chart in the Specs tab before you order. Wrong size is not a returnable reason — see the next point, because it is the one that costs people money.
• Returns do not cover a size that doesn't fit: BushLine returns cover faulty or not as described. Change of mind and wrong size are not covered, and apparel and footwear sizing sales are final. Take the two minutes and measure.

Q & A

Is this a certified safety boot?
No. No safety standard is marked on it and we have sighted no certificate for it. The conformity document in the image gallery belongs to a different brand and model number. If your site requires rated footwear, this shoe does not answer that requirement.

Is the toe cap steel?
No. It is plastic. The supplier's own cutaway diagram labels it a plastic toe cap, and no impact rating is published for it.

Will it stop a nail?
There is a woven puncture-resistant textile layer through the midsole and the supplier shows it being flexed by hand. No puncture resistance figure is published, so we cannot give you a number. It covers the sole area only, not the sides or the top of the foot.

What size do I order?
Measure your bare foot heel to longest toe, in centimetres, standing up on a hard floor with your weight on it. Then match that figure to the Foot length column in the Specs tab. Don't measure an old insole or an old sole — both read long. If you have a wide foot, a high instep or a long second toe, the supplier suggests going up one size.

Do they run small?
The supplier's chart already builds in about 1.5 cm (15 mm) of room, so the shoe's inner length is 1.5 cm (15 mm) longer than the foot length listed against each size. That is what the chart says. We have not measured a pair ourselves, so if you sit right on the boundary between two sizes, take the larger one — because a size that doesn't fit is not a returnable reason.

Is khaki the same as the brown one in the photos?
Yes. The supplier's own image labels that colour "brown" and we list it as khaki. It is the sand-coloured shoe. The three colours are black, khaki and grey.

Are they waterproof?
No, and they are not water resistant either. No water rating is published for them and we are not claiming one. The upper is pigskin suede and open mesh, which is the trade-off you make for it breathing in the heat.

Can I wear them for electrical work?
Not on the strength of anything published here. There is no anti-static rating and no electrical hazard rating for this shoe. Choose footwear that carries the rating your work requires.

How long does delivery take?

These are the supplier's figures, in centimetres, for the sizes we actually stock. Foot length is your foot. Shoe inner length is the inside of the shoe, and it runs 1.5 cm (15 mm) longer than the foot length on every row. The US column is the supplier's own conversion and we have not checked it against Australian or New Zealand sizing — go by the centimetres, not the number.

How To Measure

• Stand up to measure: put your weight on the foot on a hard floor. A foot measured sitting down reads short.
• Heel to longest toe: that is not always the big toe. Measure both feet and use the longer one.
• Measure your foot, not a shoe: an old insole or an old outsole both read longer than the foot inside them and will send you a size too big.
• Wide foot or high instep: the supplier's own sizing guide suggests going up one size. A narrow foot goes down one.
• Caught between two sizes: take the larger one. Wrong size is not a returnable reason, so a shoe that is slightly roomy beats one you cannot send back.
