Someone is bleeding. Where is the kit?

Most first aid gear lives loose in a glovebox or at the bottom of a pack, and when you actually need it you are pulling everything out onto the ground one-handed. The kit you cannot find in ten seconds is not much of a kit.

This one is a MOLLE pouch that clips where you can see it — on a pack, a vest, a seat back or a quad rack — and rips open flat so the contents are in front of you instead of buried. It carries basic first aid plus the survival bits you would otherwise pack separately.

What It Does

The pouch is 200 by 130 by 110 mm with MOLLE webbing on the back, a hook-and-loop panel and a grab handle. Inside are dressings, bandages, plasters and scissors for minor cuts and grazes, along with an emergency foil blanket, a whistle, a mini LED torch, a wire saw, a glass-breaker pen, paracord and a carabiner. Four finishes: CP, ACU, black or red.

Key Features
  • Mounts where you can reach it: MOLLE webbing and a hook-and-loop panel, so it goes on a pack, a vest, a seat back or a roll bar instead of loose in the boot.
  • Opens flat: the front panel folds down so you can see everything at once rather than digging through a bag.
  • Red cross patch: detachable, so anyone else in the party can find the kit without being told where it is.
  • Emergency foil blanket: folds down to palm size and opens out big enough to wrap someone, rig a shelter or use as a poncho.
  • Twin-tube whistle: alloy body. The supplier states 120 dB — that is their figure, not a measurement we have taken.
  • Glass-breaker pen: tungsten steel tip, for a vehicle window if a door will not open.
  • Wire saw, paracord and carabiner: the bits you always mean to pack and never do.
  • Mini LED torch: runs on a single AA cell. The battery is not included.

Limits

The supplier does not itemise what is in the bag, so we are not going to promise a contents list nobody has published. What we can tell you is what is visible in the supplier's own photographs: scissors, dressings, bandages and plasters, plus the survival items listed above. Exact quantities and sizes are not published. If you need a kit to a known standard with a known count, buy one that states it.

  • It is not a trauma kit: there is no tourniquet, no chest seal and no haemostatic dressing. It is set up for minor cuts, grazes and blisters, not for serious bleeding.
  • No medications are included: no painkillers, no antiseptic cream, no antihistamines. Add your own.
  • It is not a substitute for training or for help: a kit does not treat anybody. If it is serious, call 000 and get a professional.
  • Check it before you rely on it: open it when it arrives, see what is actually in there, and top it up to suit where you go and who you go with.
  • The pouch is not waterproof: no rating is published. In a wet pack, bag the dressings separately.
  • No weight or material is published: not specified by supplier, so we are not going to guess at either.

Q & A

Is this a first aid kit or a survival kit?
Both, and that is the point of it. Basic first aid consumables in a pouch that also carries a blanket, whistle, torch, saw and cord. If you want one or the other on its own, there are better options.

What exactly is in it?
The supplier does not publish an itemised list with quantities, and we will not invent one. The photographs show scissors, dressings, bandages and plasters alongside the survival gear. Open it and check it when it lands.

Will it fit on my pack or in the ute?
It is 200 by 130 by 110 mm with MOLLE webbing on the back. That suits most packs, plate carriers, seat organisers and roll bars. In a glovebox it is a tight fit.

What is the difference between CP, ACU, black and red?
Only the outside of the pouch. CP and ACU are camouflage patterns, black and red are plain. The contents are the same.

Does it come with the torch battery?
No. It takes one AA cell and the supplier does not include it.
