ARC Walker's Razor Headset Helmet Mount Bracket Adapter

Get the muffs off your head and onto the helmet.

Slim electronic earmuffs and a helmet are a bad marriage. The headband fights the shell, the cups creep forward off your ears, and the seal you paid for stops sealing. So you shove one cup back, then the other, and after twenty minutes of that you take the lot off.

The failure here is not the muffs breaking. It is you not wearing them. Ears you have cooked on a range day or beside a saw do not come back, and a bloke with his muffs hanging round his neck is a bloke who misses the call.

These brackets take the headband out of the argument. The cups come off their band and clip onto a pair of arms that hang from the helmet's side rails, so the helmet carries the weight and the cups stay where you set them. Swing them up when you want your ears open, swing them down when the noise starts.

Pick your fitting at checkout — Walker's Razor or Howard Leight Impact Sport, in black or dark earth. It is an aftermarket bracket, not a Walker's or Howard Leight part, and no earmuffs are supplied with it.

What It Does

• Covers slotted rails: an M-LOK backing plate and T-stud are supplied for Team Wendy and MTEK Flux style rails.
• Swings out of the way: each arm pivots so the cup lifts clear of the ear without coming off the helmet.
• Leaves the dial free: the arm clamps across the cup below the volume knob, so you can still reach it.

Limits

It is not a Walker's or Howard Leight product. Those names describe what it bolts to, nothing more. It is an aftermarket bracket made by a third party, and it is not licensed or endorsed by either brand. If you want a factory part, buy a factory part.

Two headset fitments are confirmed, and only two. Walker's Razor and Howard Leight Impact Sport, because that is what the variant list and the supplier's own artwork cover. Plenty of slim electronic muffs look similar from a metre away and do not share the cup slot. If yours is not one of the two named, treat it as untested.

It carries no rating and no certification. Nothing is printed or moulded on the bracket to any standard, and no certificate was sighted. It is not tested to EN 352, AS/NZS 1270 or any helmet standard, and it makes no difference to whatever protection your earmuffs already give you. A bracket that holds a cup off your ear by a few millimetres is a bracket that has broken the seal — check the fit on your own head, not in the photographs.

It does not turn a helmet into hearing protection. The bracket has no acoustic function at all. Every decibel comes from the muffs you already own.

Your helmet needs rails. Either a standard ARC side rail or an M-LOK slotted rail. A bare shell with no rail fitted, a bump cap or a hard hat has nothing for this to grab.

You will need a screwdriver. The nine-step fitting sequence in the supplier's images uses one at the pivot and again at the rail plate. Some sellers of the same bracket call it tool-free; the pictures say otherwise, so allow a few minutes and a driver.

Material and weight are unstated. The supplier publishes neither. The parts are moulded plastic with metal screws in every photograph, but no polymer type is named, so we are not going to name one either.

Q & A

Will it fit my helmet?

If your helmet has standard ARC side rails — the accessory rail on FAST and OPS-Core pattern shells — the arms clip straight on. If it has an M-LOK slotted rail instead, such as a Team Wendy or MTEK Flux type, use the flat backing plate and T-stud supplied. Those two rail families are what the supplier's fitting images show. Anything else is unconfirmed.

Will it fit my earmuffs?

Two fitments are offered and you choose one at checkout: Walker's Razor, or Howard Leight Impact Sport. The arms are shaped differently for each, so the variant you pick is the one you get. It will not fit a muff outside those two families.

Is this a genuine Walker's part?

No. It is an aftermarket adapter made by a third party to suit Walker's Razor cups. Walker's did not make it, licence it or endorse it. Same goes for Howard Leight.

Do I get one bracket or a pair?

A pair — left and right — plus two backing plates, two T-studs and a set of spacer washers. The photographs of the kit contents show both arms laid out together. The supplier does not state the washer count.

Can I still reach the volume knob?

Yes. The arm clamps across the middle of the cup, below the control dial, and the supplier's fitting panel marks 22 mm of gap at that joint. What that 22 mm measures is not explained, so take it as an indication rather than a clearance you can design around.

Does it come with the earmuffs?

No. Brackets and mounting hardware only. Every earmuff in the images is there to show how the bracket sits.
