Clicks Shut, Drops Open One-Handed, Gloves on.
You are on the tailgate with gloves on, a head-torch in your teeth and a pouch hanging off your hip, and you need the belt undone right now. A prong buckle is a two-handed job every time — find the hole, line the prong up, feed the tail back through. Do that ten times a shift in the dust and the holes stretch out, the tail curls, and the thing you paid for stops holding where you set it.
This one is woven webbing with a metal quick-release buckle. Push the tongue in and it locks with a click you can feel through a glove. Pinch the two brass tabs and it lets go in one motion, one hand, without looking down. Length is set by pulling the webbing through the slide on the tongue, so there are no punched holes to stretch and no in-between size to miss.
Two things to be straight about before you order. Every belt is the same 1.25 m length of webbing — the slide on the tongue sets the fit anywhere along it, and the spare tucks through the keeper. And the buckle is stamped 12 kN and 24 kN, like climbing hardware. It is not climbing hardware: nobody publishes a test, standard or breaking strain behind those stamps, so it holds your trousers up and carries a light pouch, and that is where it stops. Read the Limits tab before you buy.
What it Does
- Gloves on, One Hand Busy: hold the ladder, the torch or the gate with the other hand — pinch the two tabs and the belt drops open without you hunting for a hole with a gloved thumb.
- Out Bush After Dark: one motion to get it undone, which matters when it is cold, black and you are not about to put the head-torch down.
- Carries a Light Pouch: the webbing holds its shape better than a soft dress belt, so a multi-tool or radio pouch tends to stay on your hip instead of migrating round your back by smoko.
- No Hole to Stretch Out: the slide sets the length anywhere along the webbing, so you are never one hole too tight after a big feed or one hole too loose over a jumper.
- Same Belt on & Off Site: black or grey for work trousers, khaki, coffee or the green camouflage pattern if you would rather it blended in at camp. Or take a 2-belt pack: a black one for work and a second colour for everything else.
Key Features
- Two-Tab Quick Release: push the tongue in to lock, pinch the two brass-coloured tabs on the sides to release. No prong, no hole, nothing to line up by eye.
- Slide Adjustment: the tail feeds through a slot in the tongue, so you set the fit anywhere along the webbing rather than at fixed holes.
- Woven Webbing Body: tight-woven webbing, not leather and not a soft dress belt. The supplier calls it canvas; the fibre is not specified by supplier.
- One Belt Length: 1.25 m of webbing (the supplier quotes 125 cm, give or take 10–20 mm). There is one length — set it to your waist with the slide.
- Eight Colours & Five 2-Belt Packs: black, blue, grey, green, coffee, khaki, earth yellow and a green camouflage pattern, listed at checkout as disruptive pattern 2. Disruptive pattern 1 (a blue camouflage on a different buckle with a D-ring) is sold out until we find a seller. The 2-belt packs pair a black belt with a blue, green, coffee, grey or khaki one.
- Keeper Loop: a webbing keeper holds the spare tail flat against the belt instead of leaving it flapping.
- Unisex: nothing about it is cut for one or the other — the slide takes it in to suit your waist.
Limits
Read this properly. It is the part that stops a return, and on this belt it is the part that matters most.
- No Load Rating Exists: the supplier publishes no breaking strain, no working load and no test standard. Not a number we can quote, so we will not quote one.
- It Looks Like Climbing Hardware: the buckle is stamped 12 kN and 24 kN, the sort of marking you see on climbing and rigging gear. The supplier publishes no test, standard or certificate behind those stamps, so we don't rely on them and neither should you. Do not use it for climbing, abseiling, fall arrest, lifting, towing or vehicle recovery. If your job needs a rated belt, buy a rated belt.
- Not a Loaded Duty Rig: a radio, a multi-tool and a small pouch, yes. A full duty setup with a loaded holster and magazine pouches wants a purpose-built rigger's belt, not this.
- One Length Only: every belt is 1.25 m of webbing. It suits waists up to about 1.2 m (our estimate) through the trouser loops; on a slim waist the spare tail is longer and tucks through the keeper.
- "Canvas" Is the Supplier's Word: the photos show a tight woven webbing. The actual fibre is not specified by supplier, so we have left it at "woven webbing".
- Buckle Material is Not Stated: it is metal, the finish is black and the release tabs are brass-coloured. Beyond that the supplier has not told us what it is, so we are not calling it steel or alloy.
- Webbing Width is 37–38 mm: those are the supplier figures (3.7 cm and 3.8 cm). Measure your trouser loops before you order if they are on the narrow side.
- Cutting it Shorter: not specified by supplier. There is no instruction for trimming it and no stated tail finish. Cut synthetic webbing frays unless the end is sealed, and a belt you have cut is no longer returnable as faulty. Feed the spare through the keeper instead.
- No Water or Dust Rating: webbing sheds a shower and dries quicker than leather, but there is no IP rating published and none is claimed.
Q & A
What do I Get in a 2-Belt Pack?
Two whole belts in one order — one black and one in the colour you pick — each the same 1.25 m of webbing with its own quick-release buckle. There is one length: the slide on the tongue sets the fit anywhere along the webbing, so it suits waists up to about 1.2 m (our estimate) through the trouser loops, and the spare tail tucks through the keeper.
Are the 12 kN and 24 kN Stamps on the Buckle a Load Rating?
No. The buckle is stamped 12 kN and 24 kN, but the supplier publishes no test, no standard and no certificate behind those stamps, so we don't rely on them and neither should you. Treat it as a trouser belt. It is not climbing gear, not fall-arrest gear and not a recovery strap.
Can I Cut it Down to Length?
Not specified by supplier. Canvas and webbing belts often can be, but this one comes with no instruction for it and no stated tail finish, so we are not going to tell you it is fine. Raw-cut synthetic webbing frays unless you seal the end, and once you have cut it we cannot take it back. Leave it full length and tuck the spare through the keeper.
Is it Actually Canvas?
"Canvas" is the supplier's description and it is in the product name. Look at the close-up photos and what you see is a tight woven webbing. The real fibre content is not specified by supplier, so we have not put one in the spec table.
Will it Fit Through the Loops on my Work Trousers?
Most likely. The webbing is 37–38 mm wide (the supplier figures), which standard work and cargo trousers take without trouble. If your loops are narrow, measure them first.
How Long does Delivery Take, and What does it Cost?
Allow 5 to 10 working days from the day you place the order. Allow 1–2 days for fulfilment. Regional and remote addresses take longer again. Free Standard Delivery.
