Car Jump Starter & Air Compressor with LED Work Light

Flat battery, and nobody coming.

The old fix was a set of leads and another vehicle. That works right up until there is no other vehicle — a fire trail at dusk, a boat ramp car park at 5am, or a paddock where the nearest help is an hour away and you have no bars.

This is a hand-sized lithium pack that starts the car on its own, pumps the tyre back up, and throws a work light while you do it. It lives in the glovebox and does nothing until the day it saves you a tow.

What It Does

Three jobs in one box. Clamp it on and it starts a flat 12V battery without a second vehicle. Screw the hose onto a valve, dial in a pressure and the compressor runs until it gets there and stops on its own. And there is an LED head with steady, SOS and strobe modes for working in the dark or flagging someone down. It charges by USB both ways, so it also tops up a phone.

Key Features

• Starts a car on its own: no second vehicle, no leads across a road, no waiting on a mate who is forty minutes away.
• Preset-and-walk-away compressor: set the pressure on the digital screen and it shuts off when it reaches it, so you are not guessing with a stick gauge.
• Reads in the units you use: psi, bar, kPa or kg/cm². Australian door placards are in kPa; most servo gauges are in psi. It does both.
• Work light with SOS and strobe: steady beam for the engine bay, strobe if you are stopped somewhere you would rather be seen.
• Two capacities: 8400 mAh or 10400 mAh — the bigger pack holds more charge between top-ups.
• Fits in the glovebox: which is the whole point. A jump starter in the shed is no use on the side of the road.

Limits

The supplier quotes two different engine sizes for this unit, so we publish the smaller one. One line of their material says up to 8 litres petrol and 7.5 litres diesel. Their detailed specification says 4.0 litres petrol and 2.5 litres diesel. Those are not close, and we are not going to print the flattering number on a thing you will rely on when you are stuck. Buy it against 4.0 L petrol / 2.5 L diesel. If your engine is bigger than that, treat this as the wrong tool.

• 1000 A is a peak figure, not a sustained one: supplier stated. It is the instant of cranking, not what the pack delivers continuously. Both capacities are quoted at the same 1000 A, which we cannot explain.
• 12V only: this will not start a 24V truck or tractor system.
• CE, FCC and UL are the supplier's claim: no certificate or issuing body was provided to us, so we pass them on as their word rather than ours.
• "30 starts" is unverified: the supplier states it. It will depend entirely on your engine, the temperature and how flat the pack is. We have not tested it.
• Do not store it in a hot car: this is a lithium pack. A closed car in an Australian summer gets well past what lithium cells should sit at. Keep it in the cabin, not on the dash, and take it inside in a heatwave.
• Check it every few months: lithium packs self-discharge. A jump starter you have not charged since last winter is a paperweight when you need it.
• The compressor is loud: the supplier says under 90 dB. That is chainsaw territory — do not stand over it with your ear next to it while it runs.
• Small compressor, small jobs: 40 L/min suits car, bike and light 4x4 tyres and sports gear. It is not a truck tyre or big off-road compressor.

Q & A

Will it start my car?
Go by 4.0 litres petrol or 2.5 litres diesel, which is the supplier's own detailed figure. Above that, look at a bigger unit.

Which capacity should I get?
Both are quoted at the same peak current, so the difference is how much charge the pack holds — how many goes you get, and how long between top-ups. The 10400 mAh is the one to take if it lives in a vehicle you do not drive often.

Can I inflate a 4x4 tyre after airing down?
For a light 4x4 tyre, yes, and it will take a while at 40 L/min. If you air down regularly on big rubber, a dedicated 4x4 compressor is the right tool and this is the backup.

Does it hold pressure settings?
You set a target pressure on the screen and it runs until it gets there, then stops.

Can I leave it in the ute all summer?
We would not. Lithium does not like heat, and a parked car in an Australian summer gets a long way past comfortable. Keep it in the cabin and bring it inside when it is severe.
