Your trouser belt was never meant to carry all that.
Everything ends up on your trouser belt. Radio, torch, multi-tool, a pouch with your gear in it. By smoko the belt has rolled over, your trousers are somewhere around your hips, and you are hitching them up every time you climb out of the ute.
It is not that the belt breaks. It is that a narrow strip of webbing has no width to spread a load, so it digs in, it twists, and it drags your trousers down with it. So you stop carrying the gear — and the torch you are not carrying is the one you want when the light goes.
This is the other way to do it. A 110 mm padded belt that sits over the top of your trousers and takes the weight across your hips instead of hanging off your waistband. Two full-length rows of PALS webbing on the outside, so pouches weave straight on and stay where you put them. Foam and breathable mesh on the inside so it can be worn through a full shift.
It is a load-carrying platform, not a safety belt. Nothing on it is rated to hold a person, and the supplier publishes no load figure for it.
What It Does
- Takes the weight off your waistband: pouches and a radio ride on this belt instead of your trousers, so you stop hitching them up every hour.
- Spreads the load across your hips: 110 mm of padded belt instead of a narrow strap, so the same kit stops digging into one line.
- Puts your gear where your hands are: webbing at hip height means a torch or a pouch comes to hand without dropping a pack off your back first.
- Comes off in one movement: the side-release buckle lets you drop the whole rig at the ute without unthreading anything.
- Moves between jobs and weekends: the same belt suits a day on the tools, a hunt, a hike or an airsoft game.
Key Features
- Two rows of PALS webbing: full length of the outer face, bar-tacked at regular intervals, so standard MOLLE pouch straps weave on and lock.
- Padded main panel: 850 mm long, 110 mm wide and 15 mm thick, as printed on the supplier's dimension panel.
- Breathable mesh lining: sandwich mesh on both sides where the belt bears against you.
- Lumbar patch panel: a lined section at the back with two hook-and-loop patches.
- Side-release buckle: plastic quick-release buckle at the front, worked with one hand.
- Separate webbing strap: runs through keepers along the lower edge and closes with its own larger side-release buckle.
- Two D-rings: rectangular rings on the centre webbing band, one each side of the front. No rating is published for them.
- One adjustable size: the supplier states a fit range of 80 cm (800 mm) to 150 cm (1.5 m). There is no S, M or L.
- Six colourways: ACU Camouflage, ACU Jungle, Black, CP Camouflage, Khaki and SM Camouflage.
- Pouches sold separately: every pouch, bag and bottle carrier in the photographs is there to show the webbing working. None are included.
Pouches, bottle carriers and admin panels that weave onto this belt are in the Molle Accessories collection.
Limits
- No load rating, at all: the supplier publishes no weight capacity for the belt, the buckles or the D-rings, so we are not going to invent one. Load it with pouches and small kit and use your own judgement.
- It will not hold a person: this is not fall-arrest, work-positioning or rescue equipment. No part of it is tested or marked to AS/NZS 1891, EN 358 or EN 361, and nothing load-bearing should ever be clipped to the D-rings.
- It is not a back brace: it is wide and it is padded, but it is a load-carrying belt. It is not a lifting or lumbar support belt, and it will not treat, prevent or manage a back problem.
- Tactical is a style, not a standard: this is not military issue and it meets no military or police specification. The camouflage patterns are patterns.
- Not waterproof: the nylon shrugs off a light shower. The foam and mesh will take up water in a downpour and stay damp for a while afterwards.
- No certificate sighted: no standard is printed anywhere on the belt and no test certificate was supplied to us.
- The padded panel has a floor: it is 850 mm long, so on a smaller waist the padding wraps most of the way round and the padded ends meet close to the front.
- Denier is not settled: supplier listings for this belt quote 600D, 900D and 1000D nylon. We are not publishing a figure we cannot pin down, so the spec table says nylon and leaves it there.
Q & A
Will standard MOLLE pouches fit it?
Yes. There are two full-length rows of PALS webbing bar-tacked at regular intervals, which is exactly what a MOLLE pouch strap is made to weave through. Anything built to normal PALS spacing will sit on it, and clip-on pouches will grab the webbing too.
Can I hang a heavy tool bag off it?
No figure is published for what this belt will carry, so we cannot give you one. What we will say is that it is built for pouches and small kit spread along its length, not for one heavy item swinging off a single point.
Do I still need my trouser belt?
Yes. Keep it. This one goes over the top and carries the gear. It is not there to hold your trousers up.
Will it fit me?
The supplier states a fit range of 80 cm (800 mm) to 150 cm (1.5 m). Measure around where you will actually wear it — over your trousers and any layers, not around a bare waist. It is one adjustable size, so there is nothing to choose but the colour.
Is it one belt or two?
Two parts working together. The padded MOLLE belt closes with its own side-release buckle, and a webbing strap with a second, larger buckle runs through the keepers along the lower edge.
How long will it take to arrive?
10 to 14 days from the day you order, and allow up to three weeks. Delivery is free to Australia and New Zealand.
