Twenty years of leaning over a machine leaves a mark.

Shoulders roll forward, the upper back rounds off, and by the end of the day your neck is aching from holding your head somewhere it was never meant to sit.

This is a simple shoulder brace. Two adjustable straps pull your shoulders back and hold them there while you have it on. That is the whole job. It is a physical reminder — you feel it the moment you start slumping, and what you do about that is up to you.

Padded shoulder straps, a moulded plastic strip down the centre of the back panel, and ladder-lock buckles with hook-and-loop ends so you set the tension yourself and change it through the day. Unisex, four sizes, and you can put it on without a second pair of hands.

What It Does
  • Holds the shoulders back: two straps run over the shoulders and draw them rearward for as long as the brace is on.
  • Tells you when you slump: you feel the straps take up the moment you round forward. That prompt is the point of the thing.
  • Adjusts on the fly: ladder-lock buckles and hook-and-loop ends, so you can slacken it off at the desk and pull it up again later.
  • Hides under a loose shirt: thin padded straps rather than a rigid frame — under a work shirt or a jumper most people will not pick it.
  • Goes on solo: arms through, pull the front straps around, fasten across the chest. No help needed.
Key Features
  • Figure-eight design: over both shoulders, with a strap that comes around the front and fastens across the chest.
  • Padded shoulder pads: perforated padding where the straps cross the top of the shoulder.
  • Plastic centre strip: a moulded plastic strip runs down the middle of the back panel — the supplier calls it a fishbone support.
  • Ladder-lock buckles: a plastic buckle on each strap plus hook-and-loop ends for fine adjustment.
  • Four sizes, unisex: S, M, L and XL, sized on chest measurement and body weight. Cut the same for men and women.
  • Three colour options: the brace is black; the chevron strip on the back panel comes in purple, green or black.
Getting Used To It

Do not strap it on tight for eight hours on day one. Start at 10 to 20 minutes and add about ten minutes a day. It should feel like a reminder, not a restraint. If it hurts, if pins and needles start, or if your arms go numb, take it off — it is too tight.

Adults only. Not intended for children.

Limits

This is a support brace, not a treatment, and it does not correct anything. It pulls your shoulders back while you are wearing it. That is the entire extent of what it does.

There is no lasting effect once it comes off. Take it off and your shoulders sit exactly where they sat before you put it on. It does not retrain a muscle, it does not reshape a spine, and it will not leave you standing straighter tomorrow because you wore it today. Anyone telling you a strap can do that is selling you something.

It will not treat, correct or manage scoliosis, kyphosis or any other spinal condition, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. It is not a treatment for neck or back pain either, and we make no claim about pain at all.

Q & A

How do I pick a size?

The supplier publishes one chart, worked on chest measurement and body weight: S chest 46–68 cm (460–680 mm), 20–40 kg · M chest 68–91 cm (680–910 mm), 40–80 kg · L chest 91–119 cm (910–1190 mm), 70–100 kg · XL chest 119–150 cm (1190–1500 mm), 80–120 kg. Measure around the fullest part of your chest, under the arms, with the tape level. Two things worth knowing about that chart: the bands overlap at the joins, so if you land on a boundary let the weight column break the tie; and the bottom of the S band is a child's size, which we do not sell this for. If you are between sizes, go up — a brace you can slacken off is more use than one you cannot loosen.

Will it show under a shirt?

Under a loose work shirt, a jumper or a jacket, most people will not pick it. Under a fitted t-shirt you will see the strap lines across the top of the shoulders and a small lump at the front where the buckle sits. The back panel is thin but it is not invisible. If you want it out of sight at work, wear it under a shirt with a bit of room through the shoulders.

How long can I wear it for?

Start short. Ten to twenty minutes on the first day, then add roughly ten minutes a day. It should feel like a reminder that your shoulders have rolled forward, not like something clamping you. If it hurts, if you get pins and needles, or if your arms go numb, take it off — it is too tight, or it has been on too long. We cannot tell you a daily maximum for you personally. If you want a number for your situation, ask a physio.

How do I wash it?

The supplier publishes no care instruction, so we are not going to invent one. What we would do: sponge it with cool water and a mild soap, rinse it, and air dry it out of direct sun. Keep it out of the tumble dryer, off the heater and out of a hot car — heat is hard on padding and on hook-and-loop. Fasten the hook-and-loop closed before it goes anywhere near other clothing, or it will grab everything it touches.

Does it suit desk work or physical work?

Desk work, driving and sitting around at home are where it makes sense — you are mostly still, and the reminder gets a chance to do its job. For physical work it is less useful and can be a nuisance. The straps sit exactly where a pack strap, a harness or a hi-vis vest sits, and anything that involves reaching overhead or loading the shoulders will fight it. We would not wear one under a safety harness.

How long is delivery?

10 to 14 days from the day you order — not from the day it is dispatched. Allow up to three weeks, and longer again if you are regional or remote. Delivery is free to Australia and New Zealand.

What is this not?

It is not a treatment and it is not a medical device. It does not correct posture, it does not straighten anything, and it does nothing at all once you take it off. It is a strap that holds your shoulders back while it is on, so that you notice when you slump. If you want more than that from it you will be disappointed, and we would rather say so before you buy than after.
